Will different XML crash a multiplayer game?

I edited my CIV5GOODYHUTS.XML to make ruins only give me techs and my friend edited some stuff to increase experience of each unit. Will the game register my edits in his game and vice versa?

Eg, will my friend get only techs from ruins and will my units gain more experience as well?

Or will the game crash?

it will surely desync.

Yeah, no question this'll fail.

Seriously, the game is VERY fragile. If your mod affects savegames (as denoted by the "affects save games" box in the Properties tab), then ANY change will cause it to crash. It doesn't matter how minor; changing a text key in the civilopedia is enough.

If you DON'T check that box, it's even worse, because you probably should have. The only mods that don't need it are pure UI readout mods, things that have no impact on the game itself. Anything that affects a unit, city, building, improvement, resource, terrain type, et cetera will require this flag set. And that means changing a mod mid-multiplayer match is totally out of the question.

Odd, I tested with my friend with different modifications in XML files and it worked. His longswordmen were cheaper than normal. Did experience some desyncs but no crashes.
