Will I be able to run Civ5?

First off, I consider myself quite tech savvy so I normally wouldn't post a simple question like this. But the minimum system requirements listed are simply ridiculous.

Minimum System Requirements
Video: 256 MB ATI HD2600 XT or better, 256 MB nVidia 7900 GS or better, or Core i3 or better integrated graphics

Now just WTH is this? 7900 GS and HD2600 XT are both very capable discrete cards able to run lots of modern games. They are miles ahead of any integrated graphics. So unless Intel has made a stunning advance in their graphics architecture, saying Core i3 = 7900GS/HD2600XT is just ridiculous.

My card is a Mobility Radeon HD3470. This is obviously a few notches lower than the two aforementioned cards but it should still be quite a step above any integrated graphics. I can max out Civ4 with no problems at all.

So the question is, given the absurd parallel drawn by Firaxis, will I be able to run Civ5?

download the demo and try it before buying the game

Strange. It has better technologies.

Anyway, there are different areas of performance and the measurement could be not actual with Civ requirements. Suggest playing a demo first.

Yes of course it has better technologies but performances is quite low according to 2600xt
You will have better quality on 3470 but only 5fps whilst you will have 18fps with 2600 but awful quality.

ps. I'm guessing with FPS to give an example :)

Higher number graphics card does not equal better performance. It's the second number that matters the most. This number tells you what consumer group the card is targeted at (eg budget, mainstream, enthusiast). So a HD3470 is pretty much a budget card while a 2600 is a mainstream card, and thus would whip the 3470.

I guess no one really knows for sure because the boys at Firaxis don't know their tech  . I will hope for the best, but if 2600XT/7900GS are anything to go by, I may well be unable to run this game. I must say I am shocked by the high graphics card demands by a turn based strategy game.

I know about graphic cards, but still I thought it's better.
Anyway, I expect some reserve in minimal requirements, especially in graphic card.
