Will the AI pursue a new victory condition?

If I mod in a new victory condition to Civ IV, will the AI players automatically "know" about this new victory condition and will they attempt to pursue it? Or will I need to modify some of the AI code to get them to try to pursue it?

Thanks in advance.

I can't answer this with full authority, but no. Here is why: Before BtS the AI had no coherent path for victory. A member of these forums, Blake, created the Better AI mod for the Warlords expansion pack. While this was a mod, I was pretty active in those Better AI forums. And Blake repeatedly stated, and implied the AI did not attempt to "win", it's only ability to win was through a space race, and it could only win this way by stumbling into it, it didn't plan on winning that way. It could technically stumble into other victories as well, but it pretty much never did because without a plan to do it the AI would never achieve the requirements of other victories. Blake programmed in a Cultural Victory strategy, and a path to domination victory strategy. Both of these made it's way into the BtS AI when Blake was hired to do the AI for BtS.

So given the facts, I find it nearly impossible the AI would be preprogramed to understand, and then formulate a plan to achieve a new victory condition. In fact, given how AI's work, it's downright impossible. However, if your new victory condition is set up in such a way where the AI could stumble into it, it very well might, but it wol't try for it.

Thanks! Time to dust off those old C++ skills (I've programmed only in Java for the last 5+ years) and go traipsing through the the AI code.

Any pointers on what files and functions to look at in order to guide the AI to certain goals?

My advice would be to go the Better AI forum and ask Jdog5000 or Dresden. They have the most in depth knowledge of the CIV AI. This includes Fireaxis employees, simply put they are the CIV AI experts.
