Hope you're right, Ville.
Civ3 is such a great basic game that has a lot of room for layers of complexity to be added, I'd much rather see more work put into it than a whole new approach Civ4 in the 'bare bones" state the original Civ3 was.
Or we could get a stinker like MOO3

Yes, if Conquests sells well, there will be a 3rd expansion pack or Civ4.

(It depends on who you ask. Ville says 99% sure for a 3rd X-Pack, while I have also heard from reliable sources that Conquests is the *last* X-Pack for Civ3. You pays your money and you takes your chances....)

I agree, Ville: I would LOVE another X-Pack! ( I just realized, this one is not even out, and we're already clamoring for the next! )

SOme of it may come down to: where do we apply the resources at habd? On a new X-Pack, or do we start them on the early design stages of Civ4? Decisions, decisions.

I know the answer. But, it really comes down to if it sells well, then Firaxis is going to keep making it. Ask Jeff_ATARI. He'll probably tell you about supply and demand.

I reckon there wil be a third expansion but that will be the last. There's only so much they can add to a game before too much has been added that the game is no longer recognisable. Anyway, I reckon the third expansion pack will include a lot of things made from fans on the net when Conquests comes out because that is what almost every mod / map / scenario maker has been waiting for.

I'm pretty certain this will be the last expansion...it's been 2 years since Civ3's release. Its got to be in the back of Firaxis's collective mind what their next project is going to be...AC2??

i prefer civ 4 so there can be big changes in the game.
We don't need extra units, civilizations and scenario's we can produce them by ourselfs.
very big changes can only be produced by creators of the game.

This is true Bartholomai. I would definitely prefer big changes to another expansion pack. Expansion packs can only add so much. I'm not complaining about Civ3, I still love it! But, IMHO, Firaxis should consider releasing a new Civ-type game, whether it be Alpha Centurai 2 or Civ4. I think 2 expansion packs should be the limit. Look at the Sims (if anyone out there plays it). There are, what, 6 expansion packs? The game just got too complex for me.

By the time i buy the next x-pack ill have almost 100$ into civ 3. And Ill finally get the game that i should have gotten when i baught civ3. Why did i have to buy a x-pack to get multi-player, only to have to wait for a patch to make it playable? I love civ series, and have been playing it since it came out, but it's still not the game that it should be. just my thought

Yes, the game was not what it should have been when it was released. There was no multiplayer and it had a lot of bugs. And even when PTW was released, the multiplayer had a lot of bugs. But, by now the game, I feel, is playable in all aspects. MP and SP. There are few bugs now and one can play Civ3 MUCH easier than when it was released 2 years ago. This expansion, I feel, will bring the game to its pinnacle (assuming it is not released full of bugs) and any expansion packs after this will be superfluous.

Speaking of Civ2 and its many expacks; how come Civ2 had loads of expacks but Civ3 has pretty much the same exact techs as Civ2?

it's got a good lot more units and all in all is a MUCH better game but the techs stayed pretty much the same.
