Will This Start a World War?

An interesting scenario has presented itself to me. I am the Carthaginians and was asked by Babylon to declare war on Egypt. I did so. As I was on the doorstep to Thebes she agreed to be a vassal of Babylon. Now, the palace has declared that all brothers of the faith have a defensive pact with one another. If I declare on Egypt, Babylon would have to declare on me. Would that trigger all other civs to declare on Babylon, or would my declaration on Egypt require all other civs to declare on me? I can't try right now as I'm not at my home PC. But if my declaring on Egypt is not an act of war against Babylon, I wouldn't trigger the defensive pacts. My hope is that they would declare on me, and all other civs would declare on them, thus pitting Hammy and Hatty as allies against me and the rest of the world. Would that happen?

Maybe save and try? I think that war will be impossible or you'll fight (alone) against Egypt and Babylon.

I'm gonna try when I get home, but I figured I'd see if anyone encountered it. I feel like stirring the pot and a world war where I'm the most advanced will only help me advance further.

I'm not sure if this has changed since vanilla, but wouldn't you declaring war cancel the defensive pacts?

Would it cancel it with everyone or just the civ I declared war on?

If you declare war all your defensive pacts are canceled. If you are declared war on then all current pacts are honored.

I learned this the hard way in RFC. I had lots of Defensive pacts for stability, then Arabia collapsed and I couldn't resist a city or two. I lost the pacts, and two turns later was attacked.
