Windows 7 Compatibility

I'm running Windows 7 64bit and after about 5 or 6 minutes the game starts to run slow. Then the music runs slow, and then the whole game just locks up. I'm able to access the Task Manager to end the game, without turning off the computer. Am I missing something? I haven't tried capability options or anything yet. I thought maybe there would be a patch to install to help it run smoother.

I am a civilization 4 fanatic but not a techie....I just bought a new Dell Studio computer supposedly great for gaming, running windows 7 and can't get me civilization to run. In simple terms, what can I do to make it work?

I bought a Dell Studio with Win 7 64bit too. BtS runs fine..

These are my specs:

model: Dell Studio 1749
CPU: Intel Core i5 M520 2.40 Ghz
RAM: 4 GB
Graphic card: ATI mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB RAM

Go to the Civ 4 exe file, right click -> Properties -> Compatibility -> XP Compatibility (something like that)
