Wireless Optical Mouse

Just bought a Logitech LX5 cordless optical mouse, and I am quite disapointed.

The accuracy of the mouse blows. It will not heed to my commands. If I keep the mouse on a straight path, the curser will usually veer off in some strange direction. Very annoying. With my old trackball mouse I never had any problems.

Is this common for the optical mouse? Is it just my brand? How does a laser mouse compare?

What kind of a mouse pad you have? Optical mouse, as far as I know, likes mono-colored pads and can veer off a bit on very colorful surfaces. I've been using optical mouse for years and never noticed any problems. Now I have Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 on both of my computers - I really like that one.

Sounds like you're using the mouse on a poor surface (for an optical mouse). Shiney, or anything like that?

OK, I see. I was using a parquet pattern mouse pad. Instead I just put a blank sheet of printer paper and it works much better.

Thanks.
