Without the Mids (SSE/WE Immortal wt)

Interesting obervation:

In you 1270AD pic, you have a settler ready to settle a city with a WORRIOR escort. How did you build that worrior???

In your 1280AD pic, you are way passed stone age and does not have the option to build worriors and seem all cities are connected with Iron and copper. What happened? I understand for your other cities you only have 1 worrior each for happy police, so it is not possible that you moved an old worrior here from another city.

:hmm:

Edit: never mind, seemed you build a maceman in a border city and moved an old worrior to the new city.

BTW you spell it "warrior"...

Do you not consider Roosevelt to be any kind of threat?

I know he is relatively peaceful, but on paper he can declare at pleased, and you keep stealing techs from him, plus you don't share the same religion.

Yes, he has 10% chance to attack at pleased, but you'd have to really fubber up the logistics checks for that to happen.

PART V – The Industrial Era

1575
We steal Communism from Roosevelt.
One of my favourite these days for two reasons:
1. State Property Baby
2. More Spy Buildings!
-ni

1580
Rut-roh… Montezuna greets us. Oh well, he’s at the bottom of the statistics list (the only one worse than us!).
-ni

1590
Well, lets go and get a defensive pact with Egypt up. Even more diplo-points, and will deter anyone from the other continent getting fancy with us.
-ni

1610
Lets give Egypt Democracy and physics for Steel & lousy world map. Yeah, it’s a rip-off, but I can’t or don’t want to quite steal it from Roosevelt at this point, and I simply want/need IW ASAP.
-ni

1615
Wang greets us. Haha, he’s even worse than Monte on the list!
And now, Suryavarman also meets us as well, which also is rated below us on the list.

* Roosevelt is on his last turn of Steam Power.
-ni

1620
Ahah, and we steal his Steam Power from him the instant he researches it!
-ni

1675
GP pops.

And… we are completing the Broadway.

Spoiler :
1675.jpg

Note: Looks like I was running engineers here hoping to get 3 hammers instead of 2 from a priest by the next pop.

1680
We steal, Biology baby! This one should need no explanation for a few reasons.
-ni

foreign1.jpg

And lets see what is going on in the world today.

Note: Despite running opposite religion from Roosevelt, and constantly running spy jobs on him, he’s still pleased with us.

1705
We are now ten million strong.

Not much to see here, but since we are 2 turns away from entering the Modern Era, here is the final update.

Yup, building a library seems a little late by the 1700’s but better late than never. Also, looks like I ended up putting some riflemen in cities. I was getting a little paranoid with the crazies of the (other religion) on the other continent. Last thing I wanted was a SNEAK attack and risking my precious gains. We can also always whip/draft in an emergency.

As soon as radio is done, we will get back to work on another 3 big wonders here. It is a shame we have to delay one side of the tech branch (to keep castle bonus). This will force us to lose the Pentagon, but that’s the damn problem with castles. If you want to make use of them, you pay huge penalties to do so.

1705.jpg

And so, ends part V…

Part VI – The Modern Era

1730
RocknRoll ready for completion. Another good wonder, with great benefits.

Spoiler :
1730.jpg

Note: Tech is only at 30% at this point, we are zooming along faster than we can even keep up with, lolz. 10% going to culture (for happiness), and rest to spy points.

Our unhappiness is already at 20, looks like we must have defied a resolution or two? Or three…

1740
Lets give Egypt a hit musical, in exchange for a batch of spices.

Whoops, I see she’s givin us –1 for trading with her worst enemies.
-ni

1745
Rabbi Akiva pops.
-ni

1750
Eiffel Tower ready for completion.

I guess we are not doing too bad for a crappy coastal location. Thank God for SP!

Spoiler :
1750.jpg

1760
Our scientists have developed better ways of processing coal fuel. +4 prod bonus.

We finish researching MM and now start on fission.
-ni

1765
Lets give Egypt biology and electricity for Railroad and Economics, WM, and 10g.

I’m a bit worried here that we are getting such a big tech lead on her, despite she is the world’s super-power. It probably means she’s already given up on tech and focusing on culture.

*
We also give her another hit single in exchange for Deer.
-ni

1770
Cristo Redentor ready for completion.
Now I’m going to start abusing my civics swaps even more.

Spoiler :
1770.jpg

1785
Time to snoop inside Roosevelt’s capital and see what’s there. I’m debating on planning a big invasion (not that we have to).

Hmm, and look at that, the bastard is getting all his top notch trade-routes from us. He’s also responsible for stealing most the wonders from us, due to being industrious AND getting stone right inside his fat cross. The lucky SoB.

Now, I really am thinking I want to take this city for myself. Just some of the goodies are:

The Great Lighthouse
The Hanging Gardens
Chicken Pizza (just for a trophy)
The Sistine Chapel
Notra Dame
The Kremlin
The Pentagon (trying to keep castles cost us this one)
Mausoleum.
1 GE
1 Scientist

Spoiler :
1785.jpg

Damnit… I really really want this city! The only thing that seems to be missing is the Pyramids and Stonehenge. Strange that he did not get those.

1795
St. Augustine pops.

And the Hollywood is ready for completion! I sense some more resource trades with Egypt next turn.

Hmmm, do you think we should lightbulb him to grab Monootheism???

1795.jpg

Note: Egypt seems to have planted a city down on a 1-tile continent. I GUESS that’s ok because it has a food resource next to it (laugh).

We have a 1 tile continent available too. But I’m going to leave the forest on it.

1800
Special Event.
The American people have sent food stores…

Whatever, we are going to BS him anyhow in the near future, so who cares.
-ni

1808
A Great Spy pops. Time to install our first Scotland Yard.
-ni

1810
Damnit.
Another stupid event. I have to spend 170gold and I still lose 3 pop in Delphi (which doesn’t exactly have the best food to regrow). That figures.
-ni

1814
Hmm, Khan has declared war on Roosevelt. I don’t see how a backwards AI on another continent can do anything, but we don’t mind.
-ni

1822
Another Great spy pops. Time to make another Scotland Yard.
-ni

espionage1.jpg

A look at the espionage screen.
I think we got enough here for the war effort :P

1824
Ok, time to do some spy work. Stole Assembly Line tech from Roosie, and now we’ll end up using his own tech against him.

Also, we trade Fission & MM to Egypt for Industrialism, and WW, + 90g.

* And!!!! We steal Railroad too.
-ni

1828
3 Turns research till Combustion (teching like an animal here).
We also hold Twenty Million Souls.
-ni

1832
Last turn on Combustion.
And we get another Spy pop, for another Scotland Yard.
-ni

1834
We immediately steal plastics the first second we can, and work on the Hoover Dam.
-ni

1848
I had the UN in my que in Delphi and now someone else completed it, so we gain a thousand in cash. I wasn’t too sure if I was going to complete it or not. The problem is that Egypt is the world leader, so her votes will count against me, instead of for me. So I decided to just delay it and grab the cash. Obviously Roosevelt won’t vote for me when I attack him, and at this point, I’m going to be on the voting list for the UN anyhow. If I had completed it earlier, I could find myself defying resolutions earlier and that really sucks.

**

And now, we look inside my capital and see that we have the Gorges Dam ready for completion. This is a good indication we are in a strong position. And now our cities will get pollution free power, with only the need to build a factory. The war effort is getting to a very good start here.

Spoiler :
1848.jpg

1852
A Great Scientist pops. I could use him to make the ethanol corp-wonder, but it is useless to me because of my civic choices.
-ni

1858
Oh well, maybe I should have built it, because I do not have any oil. Yup, bad enough our terrain was crap, and now we have no oil either. Or even uranium for nukes! Ughhhh.

Good news is our sister Egypt has two sources here. Strangely, she wont trade some food resources, but is willing to give an oil up. Anyhow.. this is costly but…

I give her:
Fish
Musical
Single
Movie
197 per turn.

Note!! This was a big mistake, because I already was giving her a bunch of resources. The very next turn after this, she canceled duplicate resources, and left me basically paying to get oil at screwed up prices. Arggggh. I didn’t know the AI had got that smart, oh well, next time I’ll know better and make sure I screw HER on the resources instead. That’s what I get for being such a nice guy.

-ni

1864
The internet ready for completion.

Woohoo! My FAVOURITE of projects.

Spoiler :
1864.jpg

Note: Even with 0 cottages, and 0 scientists running, and 0 science slider, we are still teching like mad. Refrigeration will be done in 6 more turns, and we don’t even care.

Hmm, and one of our very early warriors is still defending that capital.

And so ends part VI… Tune in next time for Part VII -- First Blood. Same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel.

PART VII – First Blood

1880
Alright, we’ve built up tanks & tanks & tanks, as well as infantry to HOLD our city positions, so as we don’t lose our gains (or damaged tanks).

Of course, I keep getting in the spot where I want to build more, more, more tanks before I hit & hit hard, but damn that Egypt. She’s really trying to pull away on me with some BS culture win. So I just have to make a move NOW, or forget going after Roosie altogether.

So now… We declare war and attack! We have two separate tank divisions, and we were positioned to hit the two northern cities in the same turn. This will only leave one narrow path towards us, and will be the one we will be heading towards next. This keeps things clean, fast, and efficient.

Sadly, there wasn’t really any goodies in these cities, though Atlanta had a Military Academy.

Note: If taking 83 turns to research plastics is not an indication of what Egypt is up to, then I don’t known what is…

BTW, on the counter attack, Roosie ended up sending elephants and horse-archers to attack our tanks! WTH is this… the Polish Cavalry? LoLz.

1880.jpg

1882
Great General pops.
-ni

1886
Our tanks ride into a third city.

* Also, we pop a Great Prophet.
-ni

1890
We also Capture Philadelphia now.
Hmm, Roosie taking 25 turns to research Superconductors. I wonder…

1890.jpg

Note: Golden age is burning. I must have combined the GP with a GA to start a golden age. == MORE Tanks!

Also… I ended up getting very scared with the way Egypt was running away in culture at this point. I kept sending in SPY AFTER SPY AFTER SPY AFTER SPY… and you know what? Every damn time I tried to change her civics, they failed. EVERY TIME! I decided I had best HURRY and try to take her out TOO, or at least raze one of her 3 culture cities. So... as much as it really pained me to do this, I decided to vassal Roosie at this point. While he didn’t have any muscle to stop me from taking him totally out, I just didn’t want to lose to some BS culture crap.

But on the bright side, I got Refrigeration and a world map with Roosie’s capitulation (laugh).

· Also, for my tribute I DEMANDED Roosie’s oil. This would allow me to auto cancel my deals with Egypt for hers. The risk though, was having Rossie break off his vassal agreement with me. It’s happened before but luckily he didn’t do it here.

Furthermore… I decided to gift back two cities. New York, and Philadelphia. They were in some bad culture areas from either Roosie or Egypt, and I figured it would be best to let him baby-sit his own cities. I really needed to focus on Egypt, and hopefully Roosie could get some power back. My worry, was gifting TOO MUCH back to my vassal, and risk him snapping off from me.

--

Oh dear, we really are getting a problem here.

Egypt already has two cities at Legendary Culture, and the third is at 44420.
Argggh.

Spoiler :
culture.jpg

Time to put the metal-to-the-petal and gear up for our second major thrust. Now as soon as we heal our tanks, and get another stockpile of them… we’ll race on forward.

And so ends part VII…

Arggh! What a cliff-hanger. :( I don't suppose you can peak into Memphis to see how many turns you have before it goes legendary?

On another cultural note, it's a bit surprising that Delhi isn't pushing further into Kahun's (that silly one tile island city) cultural borders. Wonder what's going on there...
