Word association

Okay, I'm not bashing. Hell, I've even participated from time to time. What I want to know is what each of you gets out of participating in the word association threads? I personally can't get interested. Once again, I'm not bashing, taste is taste. I like American college football. I don't like baseball. I'm not at all judging, I'm just curious.



BTW, one word answers would be cute, but since I've already thought of it, it won't be original.

Like scorch associated "head" with "blowjob".

Anywho, there can be some long stretches of Word Association that are quite predictable and boring, but there are some good associations now and again. Kinda like reading a DukeOYork post... Jeez that sounds bad, I don't mean Duke is predictable and boring, but his posts often make me smile or laugh.

I like words. Being a nasty teacher and student, I do enjoy playing about with the English language in various fashions, and this is a nice harmless way of doing it, and getting the occassional chuckle.

I too love words, and the word association thread is more fun than Simon's thread about your favourite obscure words because you get to use them instead of just listing. I admit that my associations can get a bit cyptic at times, but I'm a cryptic crossword fan so that's to be expected. I think Simon had Eton as his word, and then I put high fives: Eton fives being a sort of squash without racquets and high because current Etonian Prince Harry has recently been in trouble for drugs and drink. It amused me, but I don't know how many other people got it. Hmmm.... having said that, it must apply to several of my posts everyday. I am also amused by the way in which when you try to lead the next person to come along to say something, they never do, and pick something totally different. It's basically just harmless fun, and although I can appreciate that it would be abused for post count promotion purposes, I for one do not care about my post count nor anyone else's so their volumes of spam will do little for their reputation. The only thing more tiresome than a bore is a verbose bore, and although I admit to sometimes being verbose, I try not to be boring at the same time. Although others may have different opinions.

Thanks for the responses. Again, more power to all who enjoy, and on a slow day I will occasionally stop by as well. You have all provided me with increased insights into your mental perspectives, which I probably won't use to help me conquer the world.

The man has a memory, you have to give him that. Notice that I said I probably wouldn't use the info to conquer the world. Either I won't need it, or I won't conquer the world. Most likely the later. I mean, If I'm in charge of Women and other Alien Races, do I need to usurp Simon's power? He's got no use for them, so its not like he's going to interfere.
