Worker Mod

Real XML actually has programming to it. The XML itself does stuff. Look in the Schema files and you see a VERY small glimmer of what it is like, or look in the LSystem to see a fair deal of it.

It is really just mixing the Schema into the standard XML when you boil it down, but that causes you to have a far more variable layout to your filestructure, and can make it more confusing to follow what is going on.

The Schema/XML split which Civ uses is really quite nice since it removes a lot of the repetitive "management" features and allows you to only see what is relevant to distinguishing each field.

Uploaded a new version of the Mailbox + Worker Mod. Only change is that it includes a new Gamefont file so that Raw Mana actually displays as Raw Mana (in the chance to discover entry for the Ritual Nodes). I also improved the graphical appearance of: Fur, Corn, Wheat, Clams, Wine & Toads in the city screen. (Toads are no longer Kermit the Frog)

Xienwolf, I've been having some CtD's whenever I load up a game. I know I haven't loaded one with an earlier version. I'm was using 2 versions ago + Circle of Gaelen fix + (I think) Event increase. I'll try the newest version, but if that doesn't work, I'll post my save...

If you mean literally when you load ("Failed to Uncompress Game Data" flashes to the screen then it hits desktop), that should been resolved in the version after. It was an issue in 1 version of the mod, that was resolved within a day or so.

If it is this one though, I suspect that the savegame won't be recoverable without rewriting part of the DLL specifically to do so.

Oh well. It was taking way too long anyway, and I was losing terribly (serves me right for trying a harder difficulty level than I'm used to :p) I downloaded the version before last, and now that I have converted all of Erebus to worship Kilmorph as Tasunke (through steel & passive religion spreading... In all seriousness, I decided to be Kilmorph, then switch to Order/Empyrean for stronger chariots and then Valin, and by that time, three of the four evil guys had converted to RoK, so I kept it.), I'll download the newest version right away.

Just a thought, while playing the Lurchirp, I had a few thoughts:

1) Could Empower I-V give +5 work rate?
2) Could Golden Hammers give a bonus to work rate?

And while in this game, I managed to wipe everyone out with a mud golem :D

By the end of the game it had:

Fire II
City Defense I
Empower V
Netherblade
Orthus' Axe
Gela
Staff of Souls (with 2 Death Mana)

Ending in an effectively str. 10/14 mud golem :)

Those bonuses make sense :) I very much like them.

Uploading now, Empower 1-5 grant +5 Workrate each, Golden Hammer provides +75.

Nice. That should make early Lurchirp expansion on Marathon a lot easier :)

It just seemed that they had the least flavour with their workers, even though they were still better. And their workers did not get better over time, but anyway, the changes should make them be a more viable option for the modmod.

It did bug me that they went form the BEST workers to just the best STARTING workers, but that the Khazad workers wound up FAR superior (though that isn't so bad. Mostly it was the Human Workers getting to be better than the golems that sucked). But I hadn't thought of any way around that other than raising their initial stats, which would probably have early-game balance issues.

So I'm done with school and I'm really excited to try out this modmod. :) I'll also release the latest version of MIMM, if you want to include it.

I'm unable to find the link to download this, am I just missing something in plain sight?

First off, let me say (trying to type wasted on Rye and Ginger Ale) that this mod (from a guy gaming since 1984) is AWESOME! I have have had multiple CTD issues since installing this MODMOD (the only thing I run). Here is the save 3 turns prioe tp crash. If you need more from me, I can do crash reports, system specs, etc, in the morning, when not as drunk ( sorry, I get 12 days off per 60-90 days (straight) working. I have been able to run FfH without mods ro end (Huge world, epic time, Prince diff) to end.

Sorry if too short, (fiancee MAD more than neighbors that I've been in the whiskey than being biggest civ on the block) but can elaborate when I can type with more than one squinted eye, tongue out, and two (ok one!) finger!

Ed

(PS And darn it xienwolf, you made this longtime lurker a poster!!!!)

Hawk1212: Could you let me know which version you are using (With or without Mailbox's Improvements Everywhere Module), and what you named your Mod? If I don't use the right name for the mod then I can't get the save to load, and obviously need to use the right version to test it out :)

Ok, so I figured out that you just installed it over basic FfH, so I got the directory name right, and as I guessed you are using the version with Mailbox's additions. I ran the game through to turn 371 without any Crashes, so I am not sure what is causing your crash :( Is it repeatable?

I also noticed that my new graphic for the Ritual Node wasn't showing up on the Build Order, and that my fix to have it display that it discovers Raw Mana (not Entropy) wasn't uploaded. So a new version is uploaded with those 2 changes (your savegame still loaded with the changes). Maybe downloading the one I have up right now will fix things for you?

Have you figured out a way to make the workboats actually build coastal improvements when under control by the AI or on Automate? I've been tinkering with the AI settings by changing the XML from UNITAI_WORKER_BOAT to UNITAI_WORKER, but it doesn't seem to be working at all. In addition, I changed workboats to be more like workers and instead of sacrificing themselves, they have build rates and such.
