Hey everybody.
Been playing Civ since the 1st. In civ2 I always *always* played on Earth map with starting locations historically accurate and loved it.
Primarily because I enjoyed trying to recreate as much as I could the british empire. Not because I'm brit funly enough but just because in the context of Civilization its actually pretty f*ing hard.
Anyways I love world map with locations proper start. But since civ2 I've never been able to do it because for whatever reason none of the new civ's have ever included it.
Now with civ4 which i have just recently procured, and btw I LOVE it. New graphics are wonderful and the closed/open boarders is finally working properly. Oh and for those people that say Civ4 runs poorly. I would say the main issue is graphics card (must have its own GPU/processing unit) so it doesn't put the load of the CPU is probably of paramount importance.
I grabbed the nvidia 6600GT.
And a lot of RAM. Probably 1 GB should suffice. I've only got 512 at current and will get more most likely but thus far its ok.
Oh and AMD Sempron 3000+ so nothing special.
But having said that i've only plaid on a map with 8 civs including myself and on standard or large i think thus far. But no particular lag really, up to 1900AD thus far.
Anyways my question is, in civ4 can i PLEASE play on Earth maps again (well proportioned earth maps) with starting locations accurate? Because its not in the game as yet and i was hoping somebody could point me to a proper download for this.
