We shall not flag or fail. We shall go on to the end.
We shall fight in France, we shall fight on the seas and the oceans,
we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air,
we shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be.
We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds,
we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills;
we shall never surrender.

World War II

Welcome to the Game 2 based on my adaptation of European Scenario from WORLD WAR II 1939 mod by asioasioasio. Game 1 ended with the Axis victory. Will the history be different this time around?

PLAYERS:

Axis Ideology Champion (The Third Reich, master of Balkan Axis, and Italy) kiwitt

Western Allies Ideology Champion (British Empire with Canadian cities, master of 1 city civ Canada) Tigranes

Comintern Ideology Champion (The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) academia

Just like in Game 1 -- there are 3 ideologies (Axis, Western Allies, Comintern -- former religions) and 21 objective cities in the game. In 1939 your ideology controls 6 objective cities with 3 objective cities remaining neutral. "Ideology controls a city" means ideology is present in the city and city belongs to you or to the civ that shares your ideology. There are 3 possible victories, one set by game and 2 by house rules:

VICTORIES:

Ideological Victory At any time any player whose ideology controls 12 or more Objective cities (as defined above) instantly wins the game.

WWII victory You win the game by the beginning of the last turn (Week 2 May 1945, after 243 turns :crazyeye:) if your ideology controls more objective cities than your opponents.

Time Victory Regular in-game victory by score in unlikely event we need a tie breaker with each of the ideologies controlling 7 cities (7*3=21).

REVISED HOUSE RULES:

1. No gifting units. Exception: (Future) Allies (Britain, USSR, France and AI controlled USA) can gift each other Destroyers, Armoured Units and Land Transport Units (as defined in game).

2. No airlifts, except for units representing a single person, e.g. Great General, CEO, spy ... The only other Exception: Total of 5 Infantry Units and 1 Machine Gun Unit from Canada to the Egypt, representing the ANZAC armies.

3. Cities cannot be gifted except only when liberated to the original pre-Sep 1939 owner (this includes Canadian cities, which can be returned to Canada by human British player).

4. No permanent alliance between human players (includes Italy with Germany).

5. Italy goes AI if Rome is lost to any civ. Human Germany and human Italy cannot fight each other.

6. Once war is declared no peace deal can be accepted/proposed until the fall of "belligerent" capital.

7. Before 1941 Germany and/or Italy can declare on USSR only after fall of Paris, while USSR can declare on Germany and/or Italy only after fall of Helsinki.

8. Before 1945 UK and USSR can declare on each other only after the fall of Berlin.

9. Before 1940 UK can declare on Italy only if Italy is at war with someone.

10. Before 1940 Italy can declare on UK only after fall of Paris.

11. Human players cannot switch from their ideology (religion) and original Politics Civic (Fascist, Right Wing, Communist).

12. No land crossing of Benelux, Spain and Turkey by any human player during OBs with those civs, while those countries stay neutral (not involved in any wars). Exception: In lieu of Persia only units allowed to be gifted can cross Turkey (in both direction) .

13. If the USA has not joined the side of the Allies by the end of 1941 and declared war, Germany declares war of the USA on Week 1 of December 1941. So does human Italy.

14. Because of the strange bug, Air Missions Bombing Buildings and Factories are not allowed.

Everything else is allowed, unless all 3 players agree otherwise.

Game started 6-18-2013. May the strongest ideology win! :hatsoff:

Game ended 12-10-2013. And the winner is ... Western Allies Ideology (Tigranes)!:trophy:

Germany is at War with Britain, France, Canada and soon to be defeated Poland.

Just realised I have spelled World War as Warld War in the name for our game folder, :hammer2: I will try to fix it next turn, if it is even possible.

Have a good war, guys! :ar15:

I don't think it's possible to change the name folder, but if you find a way... please tell me!

3 Sep 1939 - At 11 am Britain declares war on Germany to be followed at 5pm by France. Australia and New Zealand also declare war on Germany. A Bristol Blenheim of No. 139 Sqn, Wyton, carries out the RAF's first operational sortie of the war - photographic reconnaissance of the German naval base of Wilhelmshaven.

Sgt F Letchard, a gunner in a Fairey Battle Supermarine Spitfire, claims the first RAF victory of the war after shooting down a German Bf 109 during a patrol near Aachen Hamburg. The bloody and protracted air war has started!

Both Germany and Britain start with a single :strength: 14 Fighters. Let's see which industry will produce more planes faster. We hope that French will chime in with couple of wins against Germans and ease the burden on RAF and indeed on entire of economy of Britain.

Germany has a starting edge in her Civics, already having Mixed economy in place. Britain still enjoys peace-time Market Economy, and it takes 2 turns of Anarchy to change it . So we stuck with this civic until our closest Golden Age.

Royal Navy is determined to fully exercise it's initial superiority (the only real edge Britain has over Germany in Sep 1939). Relentless Sea blockade of Germany has begun!

The British Expeditionary Force (BEF), consisting of some 158,000 men, leaves for France in the full accord with W. Churchill's vision quoted in the epigraph of our OP. Canada joins the list of Commonwealth countries to declare war against Germany. Britain suggested Poland, France and Canada to attack various German cities, but of course AI never listens and has it's own logic. Never seen a single Canadian troop transport crossing Atlantic so far

As for our greatest hope -- permanent alliance with US -- we somehow start with -2 diplo modifier with them. Just like in Game 1 this is a little harsh but is done to dissuade very early alliance. I did continue Game 1 as British and was able to merge with America in Spring 1941 (quite historical, given the randomness of the game). Let's see how long this will take in Game 2. As W. Churchill famously noticed:

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing—after they’ve tried everything else.

Russian turn report:

- Kishinev annexed
- Tarnopol and Talinin sieged

We kindly ask our german friends not to interfere in Riga.

Italy has commenced it production phase and arrangement of troops and completed trade deals which should keep the peace for a while.

Oh,and what about Germany? Did we just finished our very first turn?

Italy turn took a long time to get setup as it was a first turn and Germany is currently mobilised with Poland, so I need to ensure that turn goes well, so I decided to postpone that until later when I had more time.

UPDATE: Warsaw and Danzig have fallen. Also the Maginot Line!!!

Wow, this was fast! Can't wait to get home to check things out. Why did Warsaw fall so fast?

Lot's of activity in Air and Sea. At least 5 German U-boats were sunk to avenge the death of the British Submarine -- the first His Majesty ship that was lost in action.

British and German Air Forces lost almost equal number of planes this turn, but Brits were able to damage production in Cologne and Hamburg.

BEF arrived to Paris and reassessed. One of the Maginot Bunkers got under the Benelux culture. We are kindly reminding that it cannot be crossed even with OB...

Russian casualties:
-2 inf

Polish casualties:
-2 machine gun

-Tarnopol and Riga liberated

Poor Poland goes down much faster then in Game 1. Do they claim any German troops, we wonder?

If Poland does not fall in 3 weeks you are doing it wrong. ;)

Update: Poland is no more!!!

We lost a Panzer I to a freak Artillery Tank shell :(

I am officially impressed! But meanwhile German home waters got invaded! No mines in this scenario, thankfully!

Who has the file guys? It's been 2 days...

academia, I realize we all can have busy days, but at least you could notify other players about the duration of your absence...

sorry mate, PM sent
i´ll post my turn later today

-Talinin conquered
bye, bye Poland!

Finally got the save! Can't wait to play it tonight!

P.S. Poor Poland... Until Warsaw gets Axis ideology it still does not count as secured objective by Germans :cringe:
