Agreed. I think every Civ should have an exclusive National Wonder to build.

They kind of already have (or something that with only a few tweaks could come very close to that) with palaces.

Plus some civs--particularly the older and more nomadic civs--are inherently at a disadvantage when it comes to wonder options. I like the idea in theory, but in practice what do you give the Mapuche, Cree, Congo, or Zulu for a wonder?

Statue of Zeus
Parthenon
Abu SImbel
Borobodur
Notre Dame
Machu Picchu
Himeji Castle
Great Mosque of Djenne

Not sure about;
Porcelain Tower
Tower of Pisa
Arg e Bam
Brandenburg Gate

The ones i need most are Notre Dame and Machu Picchu

I’d like to see
Florence Cathedral
San Marco’s Square (Venice)
Empire State Building
Burj Khalifa
Araj Al Bait
The Motherland Calls (Volovograd)
Arc D’Triomphe
Tesla Gigiafactory
Cape Canaveral Launch Platform
Disneyland
Neuschwantein Castle

(I’d also like one more era after Information, if that’s not too much to ask)

Most of that aren't impressive to other examples. Burj Khalifa for example is only famous because it's the highest building in the world right now. Cape Canaveral isn't that unique. Same to Disneyland, and they're both American (or yes you have Disneyland California and Disneyland Paris -> not a "world" wonder). Araj Al Bait would look too much like Broadway (which is a mediocre wonder).

Wouldn't like almost all of those wonders, except maybe for one, and that's the castle.

Maybe here’s a better perspective of what they could do, and why I think they are significant.

Florence Cathedral - Late Medieval
A great Italian counterpoint to gothic architecture, only rivaled by St. Peter’s in Rome. It is has the tallest purely masonry dome in the world.
Must be built next to mountains and a holy site with a religious building. Potentially, it could be an early boost to the tourism game, by maybe granting a few relics and appropriate slots.

San Marco’s Square (Venice) - Late Medieval
Not just the square, but St. Mark’s Bascillica, the Doge’s Palace, the tower, and the surrounding structure. Napoleon used it as his palace during his Italian campaign.
Must be built on the coast next to a commercial hub. Venice was not just the most powerful naval presence in the Middle Ages, but also the hub of all commerce in Southern Europe. I’d recommend something like you get 250-500 gold every time you send an envoy.

Empire State Building - Early Modern
Arguably just as iconic as Broadway or the Statue of Liberty. Tallest building in the world for 40 years in an age of skyscrapers. It defined what a skyscraper could aspire to be.
Must be built adjacent to city center on flat land. All world wonders grant 25 tourism.

Burj Khalifa - Late Information
Not just the current tallest building in the world, but the tallest by a huge margin (until Kingdom Tower is completed at least). This should be included for similar reasons to Estadio Maracana. A new, culturally relevant wonder, and would represent the modern UAE without needing to add a new civ.
Must be built in a desert tile next to a city center. Immediately wins a culture victory.

Araj Al Bait - Late Information
Modern representation of Mecca. It’s the ultimate example of religious tourism, with no real comparable example on Earth.
Immediately wins a religious victory.

The Motherland Calls (Volovograd) - Early Atomic
This 90-meter statue just looks awesome. I think of this is like the Soviet equivalent of the Statue of Liberty, meant to inspire nationalistic pride.
Must be built on a hill next to a military academy. Nearby cities never suffer loyalty issues, and all combat units immediately gain 1 promotion.

Arc D’Triomphe - Late Modern
No better modern symbol of victory in war. Immediately recognizable by most of the western world.
Favorable peace deals may immediately push you into a golden age and for the rest of the game you earn double era score.

Tesla Gigiafactory - Late Information
The biggest factory in the world? Why not!
Must be built next to a power plant and a research center. All cities in your empire have production equal to the highest production city in your empire.

Cape Canaveral Launch Platform - Late Atomic
Not just here for its historical utility, but for what it conjures in the imagination for the space race.
Must be built on the coast. Functions as a spaceport.
All space projects take one turn to complete.

Disneyland - Late Atomic
Arguably the invention of the must-see attraction. It may not have the most attendance in the world anymore, but it spurred the genre.
No build restrictions. All countries act as if they have granted you open borders and trade routes for the purposes of tourism multipliers.

Neuschwantein Castle - Industrial

I liked the functionality in V. Must be built on a mountain. All cities with walls grant bonus tourism and gold.

Disneyland should be renamed to something more generic per trademark issues.

Perhaps Michael the Big-Eared Rodent Land?

After all, Disney is known for its litigious nature.

Well, being big for their time is pretty much what gives most wonders their cachet, so I'm not sure what your standard for "impressive" is that would exclude Burj Khalifa, even after looking at your own list.

Another standard might be historical context. Cape Canaveral is unique given what was accomplished in the field of aerospace. Likewise, Disneyland created the standard by which all other family tourist destinations are measured. People travel to Disneyland from around the world just to check it off their bucket list, which makes it pretty much as worldly a modern wonder as you can get. It set the standard by which other tourist destinations measure themselves.

On the other hand, with permission they might see it as free advertising.
I've always wondered why corporations never seem to see it that way...

"Sidneyland"!

Ride along with me and sing "It's a small Civ after all".

I also hear it has a great Pirates attraction.

If they ever add National Wonders back into the game, it would be fun to make one an amusement park. Worldland!

Well, let's say they would let Firaxis use their license. In Disney terms, the profit is negligible. Disney could buy and sell Firaxis ten times without blinking.

Then Civ gets some negative press for something like the Cree of Pueblo incidents. Mainstream media would love to throw in a line into their little article about how the game allows players to build Disneyland. Completely unrelated, but anything to stoke a fire. For a business like Disney, it's just not worth their time to make the phone call to tell Firaxis to make the problem go away.

Still, I don't know about replacing Movie Studio with Disneyworld . . . which, after all, would not exist if it were not for Hollywood.

Speaking of... the Hollywood sign would make a great wonder. Even if it is just a sign.

Don't we have enough dubious wonders? I'd call the film industry more of a monstrosity than a wonder these days.

Bad culture is culture nonetheless. I wouldn't be surprised if certain wonders weren't designated as eyesores in their day. "A giant bronze statue over the harbor? Overcompensating much? Tsk, that's money that could be spent on more social programs!"

Modern wonders are obviously more subjective, since we can take feats of engineering for granted and recreate most wonders that ever existed, and probably in a much shorter time than they were originally constructed. The wonders of antiquity skate by on their place in history when any mammoth labor stood out.

As far as designating a site as a wonder, a la Broadway (or Disneyland or The Vegas Strip, etc.), we have stuff like Chichen Itza, Machu Picchu, and Angkor Wat designated as wonders that opens the door. I wouldn't say the Hollywood sign should be a wonder, but Hollywood itself could be. Then again, I would not disagree with someone who pointed out that America's film studio covers that unique and notable element of world history.

Personally, I think the most compelling cases for wonders now are based on Civ's mechanisms. For instance, a Vegas Strip wonder is compelling to me because it provides an argument for a late-game desert city, and could justifiably provide a significant surge in tourism for a culture victory (one that doesn't involve slots for great works of art). Plus, y'know....big neon cowboy.
