Yeah, somehow I think there should be more freedom / seperation between your economic system, political system, political freedoms, and how much responsibility government takes for improving quality of life.

do you think they are justified in trying to erase all trace of Brian Reynolds?

I can see no one's stepped up to the challenge of this question. It could be that it is a loaded question. But i'm just interested - at a passing glance of what one might think upon the subject of Brian Reynolds and all that jazz . . . I think in the school play grounds a guy would be called a 'Stirrer' for what I'm doing . . . lol . . . what can I say . . . I've always been a bit mischievous . . . like a naughty liitle leprecorn with a twinkle in his eye - 'Top of the Morn to you,' And NO - I'm not Irish. 'Where'd I put that Guiness' - lol, only joking . . .

Didn't realize Brian Reynolds was responsible, and that the name was taboo.

Was it really such a contraversial sequence of events?

Do tell, I'm pretty interested.

I think Sir S. has a clearer grasp of events in this respect . . . I defer to his view at this juncture . . .what lengths one will go to for a bit of gossip - lol.[rub hands together]

Reynolds left Firaxis to start his own company because he wanted to make his own games, instead of design them for others. ;)

Well duh, that's no big deal. I thought someone killed somebody's dog or something. People leave companies all the time to start on their own.

There's just got to be more then that. It's like saying my wife left me. . .. yeah, but you're leaving out all the juicy stuff like how she dropped a piano on your car, and ripped up all your favorite ties . . . ect ect., he might have left the company - but what happened during the time he was at the company and utnil the period he actually left the company - i'm sure it was not just a split sec thing - . .. .eh eh . .. . that's the real question . .. don't force me to watch Jerry Springer for my daily doze of gossip . . .I'm warning ya, my hands on the remote and I'm gonna change the channel any sec now . . . you ain't seen what happens to a grown man who gets too deep in Jerry Springer . . . If I ever appear on the show - I'll blame it on Civ Fanatic's - cause they refused to gossip.

A bit of gossip, a bit of gossip, my kingdom for a bit of gossip.

P.S. just so you don't get the wrong impression, I'm not one for chitter chatter . .. no . .. not me . .. perish the thought. . . why I never . . . the cheek of it . . .propostrous . . .hmmmffffff . . .

Well, when the only people who know what happened are within the company it's hard to hear about what happened unless they want you to know. ;)

the answer to this is really easy, allow people to create the religions they want to use themselves.

it's already been stated & is already the most obvious way to make everyone more than happy.

They could choose the traits that they wanted each religion to have & to stop them making a reilgion that would give too many advantages every nation would have options to promote or quell certain religions (quelling should be aconsidered atrocities) & each time you create a relgion you start of with 5 positive trait points to distribute.

That way most people would probably create whatever religions they wanted to play with & then go for it !!

Jedis Vs the Amish !!!

bigbird, how is that different from having a bunch of generaic power level points to distribute? What is there about that model that makes the player think "yes, this is how religion really works in society"?

because you would have your own generic points and people who want real relgions could make them when creating the world & firaxis would be able to deliver this to us without having to deal with the whole dilema

Sorry i didnt read every post here (it's kind of a huge thread), maybe we are talking about the same thing ?

Firaxis should either not include religion at all, or include a fully developed model. That diy religion construction of yours needs a lot more work before it would persuade me not to take the game to a book-burning party.
