Worried about William

So I'm playing a Standard Big and Small Map on Prince Difficulty, pretty late in the game and nearly everyone has Assembly Line by now. The Map has one huge continent on one side, while the other side is just a bunch of small islands that are already filled up.

I'm Shaka Zulu and have an entirely land based empire, which I mostly got by running the Mongols, Portuguese and Romans out of. I think I have a clear shot at a Domination Victory and am currently fighting Survayaman(sp?), anyway to the point.

I have recently noticed on the Power Screen that I am neck and neck with the Dutch on power which surprised me as his empire is tiny, I'm friendly with him but I'm afraid if I don't watch out, he'll come out of no where and blitz me with a stack or two.

Does anyone know if William Van Oranje is one to betray, on Prince that is?

Can't say he has betrayed me as yet. Although he always looks upset with something.

Ya, he's actually always been a dependable ally for me, but I just recently moved up from Noble so I'm not sure if it will be any different.

i don't usually go thru with a red pen, i do plenty of typos myself. but this one i could not resist .

Better apologize to the Netherlands as well as I believe Holland is really only a part of it.

Given that it's late in the game, I'm sure Mr. Van Oranje has discovered steam power which means he can build his UB the Dyke. This could be the reason he has been able to build such a big army with so few cities.

Holland is the Netherlands. And with the limited expeiriance I have with Williem as an opponint, he's normally peacful. But then again there r times when the ai does something out of character because a certain number of switches that tell it what it should do get activated. Thats y i don't trust anyone, man or machine on civ.

Am I the only one that find Willem insane at teching? In every game I play that he's in, he gets a tech lead just like Mansa Musa.
And well... he seems friendly.

No, bode404, I've seen exactly the same thing. Give Willem enough room, and he'll expand like mad, but even when he's pinched he rarely expands via war.

Fourth Thunder, I think it's safe to trust Willem as much as normal, ie put some Caravels around his territory and maybe work up enough EPs to see into his territory. Sounds like you've taken out just about everyone else-- this shouldn't be too hard.
