in russian "obormot" means: blockhead, booby, chump, dolt, dunce and so on... BTW, "balbes" has similar meaning. Both word are just transliteration of russian spelling.

"Bemep" - looks like correct russian word (it reads like "veter") and means WIND.

Our two games illustrates the importance of playing the first 100 turns correct. I put a lot of thought into my strategy, and played it well, but what good is that when the strategy was wrong? It also shows how important speed is early on in the game.

What makes me continue playing civ? What drives me to continue this humiliating experience? I don't know. Perhaps the hope that one day, the supply of freekin' Russians dry up?! That they actually are humans, with human flaws and short comings? That one day, when they mastered this game fully, they decide to move on to something even more challenging, and leave us mediocre losers alone in our struggle? Is that wishful thinking?

- promote your MA (modern armor) for first strike to save it's health.

- it is possible to finish conquest for about 50 turns (I did it!), using 3 MA and marine.

Thats quite amusing considering that to me, the sound 'obormot,' is suggestive of power or strength, and I'd assumed that was the rationale for Obormot's name. Similarly 'balbes' - the sound there to me suggests mystery or magic, which goes quite well with balbes' avatar. Both are names that I could well imagine a fantasy writer making up to give to characters in some fantasy novel. It seems the actual meaning could hardly be further from that impression.

I believe Balbes was the name of one of the characters in Final Fantasy Tactics, so your fantasy novel idea was used already, DS

One of them is named "The Tale of the Priest and of his Workman Balda"
Balda in Russian means a stupid or not very serious person. And at the same time Balda is quite equal to Balbes.
