Would you watch a "good Hitler" movie?

Well I dont think that there really are goog or bad people.

1. His dad was also grazy "dictator", who was beating his children. Damaged his mind.
2. HItler was fighting in WW1 and that damaged his mind.
3. He was not given credit for his artistic works. He didnt have easy life you know.
Poor little Hitler.

I beg your pardon? Old monarchies? What are you talking about?

In central Europe was Czechoslovakia (democratic republic), Poland (semi-fascist regime), Hungary (tha same), Austria (Republic)...

ROFL!

Yes, I was just getting rather misty-eyed and romantic...it has been that sort of week.

You are indeed, quite correct.

Okay, Soviet Hegemony replacing the infant democracies and republics of Central Europe.

See, I'm never afraid to confess when I am in error :mischief:

Don't you mean Who: Tommy

Oops wrong thread ;)

I'd go with #3. I watched Moore's lies in Farenheit 9/11, so why not someone elses.

Would you watch a movie that portrays the live of Hitler in a positive light?

The poll didn't work, but here were my options:
1) No, a man who killed 11million shouldn't be portrayed in a positive light.
2) As long as they don't make the Holocaust a good thing, I don't mind the rest of his life being portrayed positively
3) I'd watch it just to see how the director will pull it off
4) It's about time. I'm tired of Hitler being portrayed as an evil man
5) Only if there's a cool Panzer chase through the streets of Stalingrad.

1) He never directly killed a person throughout his entire life.
2) Nobody is one-hundred percent evil. One can be sure that there are many parts of his life that were not filled with executions, anti-semitism, and war.
3) We already possess the tools to lie to people -- the news media.
4) Hitler was not an evil man. He did evil things. People like to call Hitler an evil man in order assure themselves that it takes some extraordinary and supernatural force to create such a being. They could not feel comfortable if they owned up to the fact that anyone could develop into the kind of person, such as Hitler. Given the right set of circumstances, anyone could choose the same path.
5) A Panzer chase through the streets of Stalingrad? I could probably outrun them on foot, what with all of the rubble in the streets from the battle.

Given that he was a soldier on the Western Front for years, and decorated for bravery to boot, that is an assertation in need of some substantiation. How can you know he never killed anyone during those years?

Hitler was runner (messenger), not an infantry soldier.

I think what makes Hitler 'evil' is his total disregard for human life. Same as Stalin.

Mother Teresa dedicated her life to helping the poor and unfortunate people. This, in my books makes her a good person.

Hitler dedicated his life (post ww1) to wiping out entire races of people and ensuring the Aryans were held in a higher esteem than anyone else. This in my books makes him an evil person.

Saying 'someone isn't evil, they just do evil things' is splitting hairs- its one and the same. And to suggest that anyone could have turned out like Hitler is total ****!

That is your opinion, and you are entitled to it, although I obviously do not share it.

Well by all accounts Hitler was a brave and able soldier- about the only thing in his life he was good at.

I might watch it. I would probably be very judgmental of it, but that wouldn't stop me from viewing it.

I am old enough, and know enough history to not be swayed by pro-hitler propoganda anyways.

Yes, BUT HEAR ME OUT!!!

First, i am anything but a Hitler fan. What he did was the worst crime ever committed, the worst sin, ever committed in this world, bar none. Well, some come close, Khmer Rouge, mao, Stalin, but none quite so evil.

I would like to see things through his eyes though. Like, a reason for what he was doing, was he insane, or a puppet, or . . . ? I have seen countless movies about Hitler's actions (Nuremburg, etc.), but i would like to see a movie that maybe tries to see things through Hitler's mind. It would have to be VERY well-done though, and it would toe a very difficult line between insulting, and telling the truth. in fact, it should be more of a documentary, kinda.

The last thing taht I would want is for anybody to be insulted by this movie. I would like to see how the director pulls it off, and the panzer chase seen through stalingrad, well, coolness defined, eh? 3 and 5 are the only options I would accept, hitler was an evil man, the Holocaust was real, and a bad thing, and, well ya.

And I do not mean a positive light, i only mean showing WWII through Hitler's eyes. Try to explain it, maybe.

I think none and noone can "really" portray hitler and comments "correctly" about him since he is dead (presumbly) and only the victor gets to write the history. Nonetheless, evidence of Nazi killing Jews and other minority is quite concrete and also the brutal war that rage from France to Russia. Its really hard to comment about past history as information will be lost, while thou some will surface, but reviewing "new" evidence should be a tedious excercise. And its not 1 movie or documentary can change or correctly portray.

Some ppl will claim that Emperor Qin is a tyrant and his reign just bearly last a generation. but 2000 years later, so called scholars and historians are given him a pretty good judgement and review.

So are human forgetful ? or simply seeing things in a different point of view hence less critical after a few years.

Moral can change over time too.

:goodjob: Yes indeed. Plus his ideas were rather popular, not only in Germany but in the whole of Europe... Seeing Nazism as the evil of one man only is the surest way to do the same mistakes again.

Anyway, I would watch a movie picturing Hitler in a good light out of sheer curiosity. Wether I would like it or not, however, is quite a different matter.
