Dilemma partially solved, bought a referbished widescreen laptop the $ was right.
installing my Civ(s) but discovered there is an issue with the DVD player I'm getting redundancy errors from my perfect condition civ disks

Hello everyone!

Also I sent a message to Imp K in the hopes he'll host a game, pushy I know

I am finally once again settled, my new laptop is road worthy for Civing and once again I can click on the saves to launch the game!!! Steam version lacks that but offers that no matter what machine your using (good enough) you can re-download and play, so it was worth the purchase in the long run.
