WTP 4.0.2 Published - Community Feedback

Nice. I found that Samuel Champlain is missing his face, even if he has his hair and clothes.
If I may ask, if there is a reason why many options in the setup are not saved for the next playthrough (I often have to setup several times in a row before being happy) while others are? Is it a code limitation or it was not the priority?

That is simply how the game does it.

Game Options have never been saved - neither by Vanilla, nor the mod.
Some of them are simply configured as "on by default", others are not.

This is a mod, so you can change anything to your liking.
All it takes is a little bit of looking into the files. :)

You can change these for yourself in this file:
CIV4GameOptionInfos.xml

I have installed the mod, but I'm not yet playing it, I'm taking my time.
Is it possible to have Steam directly load it, given it is not in the location of a regular mod?
Starting with 4.0.2 I added code to configure colonization to make WTP the default mod. This means after the first time you load the mod, it will be loaded by default. Obviously my code won't run unless the mod is loaded, hence why you have to load the mod manually the first time.

It's a QoL feature for sure. Much appreciated!

Okay not sure if this has come up yet but it will definitely need fixing. Founding Father Ivan Aleksandrovich Kuskov provides a Small Coastal Ship. But you've got it spawning in Europe instead of a city in the New World. And I tested it just to see if you can get it to a City after it travels across the Atlantic, but it just drops in and gets stuck in the deployment zones.

But you've got it spawning in Europe instead of a city in the New World.
This should only happen if there is no City with normal Coast.
(Because only then will Ships spawn in Europe.)

but here is a link to the Screen Shot that shows my City is next to a Shallow Coast. And yet the Small Coastal Ship spawned in Europe.
To formulate it more clearly:

ALL SHIPS
will spawn in Europe if there is no City with normal Coast. :)
It does not differentiate between the Types of Ships.

So this issue will NOT appear if you have at least a single City with a normal Coast Harbour.
There is simply no special logic written for spawning of Coastal Ships - because this is an EXTREMELY rare case.

So I repeat again what I had written:
This should only happen if there is no City with normal Coast.

---------

But yeah, it is a bug to spawn Coastal Ships in Europe.
But also as I said, it is extremely rare for this to happen.
Because most players should have at least 1 City with "normal Coast".

Okay, good to know.. I built my first city based on access to goods and the river. From now on I'll make sure it's got access to regular Coast squares as well.

IDK if it comes from my screen resolution but I'm noticing the scale of units varies depending on my zoom level. It makes for a weird feeling.
I like that change in scale when you zoom in and out a lot. To me it looks very refined in how it keeps changing size, relevant to surroundings and what you're focus is at that moment.

I think I get the same thing you're describing. You zoom in and the units shrink, but once you get to a certain point they suddenly grow into Giants looming over the town, like something from Gulliver's Travels.

That is a bit too much but it works on ships better. I like to see the close up details (on land units too) and combined with the camera rotation, you can get amazing visuals, with ships sailing around and those that avoid shallow waters with the new mechanics, makes for quite a spectacle.

Regarding Founding Fathers Points, my exploration points are 10 times higher than any other category. Is it to be expected?
Yes, but just remember, once you have explored the entire map it becomes very difficult to earn more of them. And yet you're spending them every time you unlock an Exploration Founding Father.
