[Civ2] WW2 scenario - how to reasonably win as Russia?

All I know is that you CAN'T defend anything west of the purple squiggly proto line from the Reich during the initial stages of your war with Germany, so just have THEM produce nothing but Freight UNTIL you can get your Tanks and Battleships over to the front lines.
