1: Reread my post. You glossed right over the part about "after the Germans took care of the Royal Navy"! My point was that all the Italians would have had to do was ferry the supplies over to Rommel, after the Germans had swept the Med clear of British planes and ships.

Not that easy, The Taranto "tragafgar day party" came form Eqypt, as also
the force that kicked italy naval ass off greece in 1940. Even malta' fall wouldn't have cleared the RN from the med. anymore than naval and
air supermery cleared the germans form the atlantic. The Main fleet outside
of Scapa was based on Suez.

I know this discussion's kinda dried up but i have something to add regarding the invasion of Russia.

I imagine that if the operation was postponed for any serious amount of time, Finland might have jumped the gun and gone after Russia by themselves as they had done in the Winter War. Finland was Germany's co-beligerant as opposed to an ally, so Germany would not have had any obligation to join in and may very well just allow Russia to defeat Finland.
When Germany finally came to attack Russia, it would be short Finland's support, which was far from inconsequential.
