X-Com being a scenario from years ago available over at Storm over Civ.

The problem is some files seem to be missing. They're probably on my hard drive somewhere, but X-Com can't seem to find them thanks to the way Civ3 on the Mac looks for stuff. I'm putting Spotlight on finding the files, but I thought I'd ask here if anybody knows what the off-site files are and where they can be found. Thanks in advance.

Update: For your edification here's a thumbnail of the error message I got.

I don't know this mod, but that sort of error message often shows up when mods use the .amb sound files. These seem to be define sound sequences that are made up by linking together separate .wav sound files. You may find that the Infantry_AU unit does not contain the file MarinesRunFoot1.wav, but it may have a Infantry_AU.amb file instead.

You may be able to fool it into working if you copy the MarinesRunFoot1.wav, and other similar sound files, from the /Applications/Civ III Complete/Civilization 3 Game Data/Art/Units/Marine/ folder into the mod's Infantry_AU folder. However, be prepared for a long and tedious process of doing the same for each unit in the mod.

That indeed turned out to be the case. Fortunately, it proved to be the one unit (so far). I made a copy of the Marine folder you mentioned, transferred the files the Infatry_AU folder didn't have, and everything worked fine from there. BTW, X-Com looks interesting, and can be found at Storm Over Civ. You may want to give it a try.

Not me! I don't play Civ any more :) Even when I was a player, I was only interested in GoTMs, and I never did play mods.
