Xeo's Pitboss Server

I've just checked the server and PitBoss was not running, after some detective work, it turned out that Microsoft has released a critical security update which restarted the server without any notice after being automatically installed (I'm dazzled?!) Nevertheless, I fired it up and now it is running. I hope nobody lost their turn and this accident won't happen again.

Sorry for me going away during the power session.
My computer overheated... and shutdown... Then I couldn't turn it on because it would just shutdown again...
After a while I received a phone call and had to leave...

I hope you didn't loose much time because of me.

Portuga, nice to hear from you. I'm sorry but we made your Civ join the borgs, of course you can reclaim it if you wish so.

However I didn't hear about TELawrence at all, what's up buddy? Are you going to play? If not then please let me know so I can put in someone instead.

All in all, it was a good session and we even had some short wars already :). Thanks again everyone for showing up!

Short and almost entirely bloodless (well the war between me and VMerchant anyway)... :)

Hello everyone -

I'm dreadfully sorry about yesterday, but a friend of mine got caught up in the business about Heathrow airport. (No he wasn't arrested - his flight was cancelled!) Yesterday evening was basically spent in a mad rush to fix up accomodation and stuff for him, so I missed the session. At work I wasn't in a position to e-mail this forum, hence I've had to wait to now.

I assume I've been put onto an AI and hope no-one's invaded me yet... I really hope I can rejoin the game though.

TELawrence, you're free to rejoin your Civ. We've all made an agreement that we won't deliberately attack players who are taken over by the AI, so they are given a chance to reclaim their civ.

Wow. Don't quite understand why I'm the highest in score since the AI founded my third city in... a desert. Yuck.

Is it possible to offer trade over PitBoss? I made several offers, but I dont know how it works ...

Yes...

Just contact the civ you want to trade with. Select the goods you want to trade to him, and the ones you want to receive. Then click "offer trade". This trade is now sent to the other player, and when he accepts, the trade becomes effective and you give and receive the goods you selected.

Watch out, the Pitboss tech trading system seems to be a little buggy. When you make same suggestion to 3 players and the 1st one accepts it the other two players get the tech as a gift (if they accept it). In the name of fair play I recommend that anyone should not accept these kind of "accidental" gifts.

Good info. I haven't used trade, or diplo much inside the game, but do find it buggy. Agreed on suggestion not to receive "free gift" if done by accident, but can you "refuse" it ?? I thought if it happens by accident, you will be informed that you receive a gift, but cannot actually refuse it ? If there is a way, please let me know..

Great, I just wonder what happens now, because I've sent the same offer to 3 players. Including U, Dark ;-)

I accepted the trade. Thanks :)
Civstats showed an immediate increase in score for the both of us, so it was definately not an accidental gift due to the pitboss glitch...

By looking at the Civstats game log (725 BC) it seems to me that this accidental gifting just took place there. If my interpretation of the log is correct Darkness accepted garf's tech trade proposal and after that vmerchant and Civgeek got and accepted the same tech as a gift. Correct me if I'm wrong.
