XP cap at 100 for all civs but Calabim?

Hi is there a guide or anyone who could tell me how to change the xp cap for units for all civs? When having 100xp you gain 0 xp for killing any number of units, but the levels continue over 100xp, next level is at 101.

So I'd like to know how to remove the xp cap for the other nation AND the barbarians. You don't stop learning fighting because you've become good at it. Even 1xp per win would do seens the levelsteps widens with every level, so it takes longer and longer. Levels over 100xp, would require over 30-40 kills and would just continue to increase as it should, but it is doable. If you'd like to read the reason behind this request just continue to read otherwise you don't need to bother, bunch of ingame facts but I do think it has a point.

Reason:
The reason I want to change it is, my friend and I am playing a game. I'm Calabim he's Ljosealfar(he's got a lot of prod because all his forest with irrigation, mines etc, so could do alot of units I guess but). He managed to kill Orthus with a warrior who got a massive xp boost and Orthus axe, went around killing barbs and upgraded him to some strong Good Civ fighter but then got stuck on 100 xp, even though he kept on killing. He also captured the Red Dragon and Curdi(well the big ape) with Beastmaster, so I guess he supposes he's pretty strong, but none over 100xp.

I, which he doesn't know yet (kept it from him as it would pretty much spoil the game I guess if I went after him). on the other hand, got 4 Brujha, Losha, Vamped Baron Warewolf, Vamped Greater Warewolfs, Vamped Druid, 4 Beastmaster I could go vamp with and some other vamps.

(Pretty late in game thats why, turn 400 on huge map, 15 civ's all in all, and it usually turns out like a rpg game even unintended. He's rounded up the good and neutral civs in the overcouncil, and we Evil "kinda" look after eachother in the undercouncil when it suites us. I'm at around 2800points so only help out the other evil if I benefit from it. Friend at 2300, and has been 300-600 points after me all game but not out played seens he's got Falamar 2000points with own continent as a permanent ally for 1/3 of the game. I have none, want hyboream but he's on other side of the world in the snow* at 700points. But for the rpg I still want him)

All vamps can go way past 100xp from Feasting on the humanlifestock(City population). I love the Vamp theme and the feasting on the humies. But I'd like all nations being able to go beyond 100xp. And no the hero promotion +1xp/turn should stop at 100xp, so you have to actually risk getting killed to get more. Having the barbs able to go beyond 100xp would make it more interesting too. Sending in your weakling units to damage the 4 riders for example could make them just stronger if you don't make it all the way. Seens he would most likely be fully healed the next turn from healthboosts from levelpromotions. Happened to my friend he went with tons of champs on the Red dragon but at the end it went below 2 strenght and the other barbs in city took over the defence. And his dudes ran out. Next turn, Dragon was back at just below full strenght, but the second time he did the same the dragon had already 100xp so no more promotion healthboost and in the end got captured quite easiely. With no exp limit that would be harder. Making the end game possably as well a bit harder and more fun, with barbs with no xp cap, as Calabim.

Quick replies would be most appreciated seens we'll continue the game tomorrow.. and I'm pretty sure he'll see my over the 100xp cap boosted vamps landing on a continent near him helping the Infernals out..

* Infernals getting their city Dis put in the snow(pretty much only spot left to put him in when 13 nations starts to spread out from start) is pretty messed up seens snow land doesn't get changed to Hell tiles (just read the civilopedia and sanctify says remove fallout from tiles). Soo nothing happens around his city and to the world, just one dark city in the white snow doing nothing evil to the world. Which is a bit boring though I am trying to save him. Sending down couple of settlers and 2 druids with boats So I can build some cities in the snow, vitalize them to plain/grassland, and then give them too him. Hopefully will start the Hell tiles spread from them over the continent. Want Ljosealfars ancient forrests in flames or at least he'll have to get busy with sanctify all over the place.

Note that the experience cap of 100 applies only to:

- Experience gained from killing barbarians and animals.
- Free experience from the hero promotion.

Experience from other sources continue to increase as usual.

You can use the 'Valor' spell, the 'Raiders' trait or an attached Great Commander to get additional experience after 100 from barbarians and animals.

If you despite this wish to increase the cap, look for the file GlobalDefinesAlt.xml in the {Beyond the Sword install location}\Mods\Fall from Heaven {version}\Assets\XML\ folder, open it with a suitable program (notepad or wordpad works) and change the following two pieces, replacing '100' with whatever number you like:

Code:
    <Define>
        <DefineName>ANIMAL_MAX_XP_VALUE</DefineName>
        <iDefineIntVal>100</iDefineIntVal>
    </Define>
    <Define>
        <DefineName>BARBARIAN_MAX_XP_VALUE</DefineName>
        <iDefineIntVal>100</iDefineIntVal>
    </Define>

In vanilla the cap is 10. It only applies when killing animals and barbarians. You can change this in GlobalDefinesAlt.xml.

Please stop making everything a single sentence and extremly long paragraphs. Very few will bother reading it. I regret that I did, almost have a headache now.

Uhhhhh, :confused:, yeah, avoid such long posts, especially with run-on sentences. I'm still confused.
But, yes, against barbs, 100 xp cap. Against other civ's units, the Cap is something like 1000xp.
Edit: also, their called Hell tiles/terrian, not Blackfalls. Also, Hell spreads even if you can't see it. (Like under snow or water.) You're problem with it not speading might be that the AC has to be above 25 (or is it fifty?) to spead outside Infernal Land (and then only to un-owned land). At AC 75, Hell can spread to neutral lands.

You can really only max out promotions at around 700xp or so, except perhaps for the arcane units...

Ok didn't remember the armageddon count, we're only on like 42. Seens I havn't gone AV still RoK to vitalize much of my snow and build soldiers of kilmorph.

Thanks you all. I'll get right on it.

And so the barbs, killing my units or AI can go above 100xp?

And sorry for the long ramblings before. Just got in the zone haha. Saw it after so I did write a warning :-) "reason.." "otherwise you don't need to bother"... Anyway to delete my own thread, now when I've got it answered. Don't wanna be responsible for more headaches haha, sorry snarko..

Speaking of xp cap, what is maximum xp anybody has reached? My highest is about 330xp. I had it once with Bandit Lord Nietz and once with Hyborem.

I've edited an archmage with the WB to see the cap which is 1000, but I haven't come close to that "naturally" with any unit. So far, the highest one of my heroes has managed to get to is 233 xp. My games/wars don't last long enough to get up there.

I played my longest game yesterday with the goal of raising the AC as high as possible. I saw Stephanos for the first time (and Buboes too). I will say this this. Stephanos is worth a pile of xp, even more than Acheron is.

my highest exp would be in the 500s, with rathus playing a sidar OCC diety survival game. With nether blade, orthus axe, great commander, gela, combat 5 drill 4 mobility 2 etc. it's not that tough to reach, as long as your opponents keep cranking out those units ;).

Calabim can get 100s of exp fairly easy aswell, even though it's a bit tougher now, with only 1 feast per turn. I remember the good old times of having your vampire lord eat away a city from 45 to 20 population, gaining a good 200+ exp in the process.

Since when is 1k xp the max? I'm pretty sure my war machine, which had every promotion it could take and was singlehandedly wiping out civilizations, had over 1100 in the end. But that was a long time ago.

Pretty impressive. With all that weapons great commander had to use some.:)

I had a 220 or so XP axeman running around courtesy of Marnok's modmod at one point. That was pretty cool. I think I named him "Captain Assbeating."

Most of my heroes easily top 200 XP in the course of a game. Granted, I play Epic. I think the highest-XP units I've had are a 500-odd XP Adventurer-Knight, 400-XP or so Vampiric Sphener, and 400-XP Brigit. I've had many, many 200+XP Immortals too of course, and the aforementioned 400-XP Brigit got like 100 at once from a 1% win against Acheron (after many many tries :lol:)

How did you get a Vampiric Sphener. I though only living unitscould become vampires?

For some reason it could still be given to Angels and Demons, I think. This is supposed to be fixed in 0.33. I got Vampires in the first place during Sphener's crusade against the Calabim. More than a few Vampires saw the light and bowed to the will of Junil ;)

The python prereq used .isAlive() to see if Gift Vamirism could be cast on a stack, but the python effect instead just checked to make sure the units getting it were not demons or undead. That means level 6+ angels, elementals, ships, and siege units of the could ge given vampirism if in the same stack as a living unit of the proper level. I'd been pointing out this probem for a long time, but Kael ignored it until Xienwolf mentioned it. It will be fixed in 0.33, and is already fixed in FF.

In all honesty, it is probably because I tend to mention several unrelated problems in the same post, so people tend to either not finish reading what I say or they forget what was at the beginning by the time they reach the end.
