Y-wrap map

Ok I have some news about Y-wrap. I have discovered that for Civ5 distance between plot [x=1, y=10 (max)] and plot [x=1 , y=0] is not equal to 10 but 1! :) It makes huge problem for AI because they try to attack Y-wrap neighbors as the nearest foreign city! :) So if somebody want to do scenario map or map script just add mountain barrier at y=0 and y=max level. Additionally moders should include Map.PlotDistance and other distance function modification to make AI more intelligent.

I don't think Y-Wrap works in-game at all, except for the incorrect results to functions as mentioned by yourself. I'd love to do a map where you can circumnavigate the globe north/south as well as east/west, with the polar cap in the center, but for now it seems this isn't possible.

You may want to check a globe!

East of anywhere by 1 degree, is always west by 359 degrees, but north of north is never south.

And there are two polar caps on a globe.

You are correct of course... I was thinking more in the sense of an unwrapped sphere, where there is a circular polar region in the center and semi circular regions in the north and south... Such a map should would deform the size of regions in the corners, but would be fun to navigate around circularly in all directions. Realistic? Certainly not.

You might want to check your math skills. A surface wrapping in north-south and east-west would be a torus (doughnut). The metric would be a bit off, though.
