Microbe, after reading your story I'm still wondering how you managed to get GPT deal after razing cities, ROP rape and some of your deals must have been cancelled when cultural expantion from Russia took your iron source. I know that when I get rep hit, I find it very tough to get deals at all from the AI.

@elhanna: Razing cities makes AIs dislike you, but it doesn't affect your rep.

RoP rape would make further RoP impossible, but it wouldn't affect GPT deals. And in the game I didn't do that - I always made sure my units were outside of enemy's territory before I declared war. This way even if you had RoP it wouldn't matter (and on the other hand even if you do not have RoP, it's RoP rape if you have units in AI's territory anyway).

iron - I may have traded it at some point, but when Russia had it I was not doing that so it was not a problem.

I'd missed this before, but that's some excellent play Microbe . I was surprised though how long you waited with actually starting the space race (when I played this solo, Space Flight was the first thing I researched after Computers & Fission, so my closest competitor ended with only 4 parts instead of 8).

Very clever too to get a Modern GA - it looks like you could have cleaned out your continent too .

@Jack: Yes, I researched Space Flight very late. The reason was to let AI research it as much as possible so I went for later techs first. I thought the bottleneck was not building parts but researching techs. However in the end I researched it myself anyway, and spent ~10 turns building the parts after the last required tech was done. I shouldn't have done that. I should have researched Space Flight before Fission (I was a little concerned about UN).

One reason I launched late was that I spent too much time in ancient ages - bad luck in making contacts with the other continent. Compare it with AG6..

Great game! I want to try an OCC some time. I started one but got severely trounced hehe.

How did you hook up your foreign resources, like the one you took from the Aztecs? I thought you need to have a harbor in a city for connection?

You have to rely on other people's harbors. So he could only get the resource while he was at peace with the Aztecs, and he had to make sure there was a road path from his colony to their city with a harbor.
