Yet another little new feature

Now each post in a thread is labeled with a number. The number also has a direct link. This allows you to refer to a specific post easily in your posts instead of saying "THAT post on page 5 by Fluffy".

Looks good, but kind of messy when a post doesn't have a title... Maybe if you could put it on the left near the poster name or something maybe it would be less messy... :crazyeyes:

Hmmmmmmm well I'm convinced by phpBB superiority... But heh, you can think what you want to think That feature is standard on phpBB... No need to hack the code to get it

But anyway I keep my opinion that it messes posts

I wonder if phpBB could handle the load that CFC has.....are there any sites out these with this much traffic running phpBB?

Oh, and I like this feature TF....very good for refering spammy posts in our Staff Forum.

Now this is a really useful feature for those that like to link specific posts easily. Plus it is not MS IE specific! All around kudos for this one, TF!

phpBB can cope as well as vBull with load. It's the number of online users at the same time that brings big fora down (too many mySQL connections) but that's to do with the db not the software. If it were moved to say postgreSQL then the db could handle a bigger load. Basically the only limit with all fora software is the limit of their db. mySQL is smallish and can get overaloaded reasonably easily but is better than those resource sucking flat file fora softwares like iB.

Just to complete what bfl just said, and finally end the off-topic here... Yes PH there are plenty of great phpBB sites out there... I've seen some of about 10 000 registered and 300 online or so... A fora won't become popular because of the software it uses, but because of the content it has....

On-topic note : And I keep my position it looks kind of messy when no title... If you can't move it, just force people to put titles to their posts

yeah the big gap between the post and the bar looks nasty...

and I've seen many big sites convert from vBull to phpBB. Many good sites as well...eg. smartFTP

I can move the post number next to that IP Logged text. The only problem with that is it won't be as visible...

That would look much better, the big gap is really annoying.
And for those using that feature, it will be as visible for them down there as up above.

Great thing... I say move it... There is no need for it to be visible... If someone has to use it, they just have to look at the bottom of the post... Visibility is not necessary.

Yes, please move it. Lucky is right about that big gap at the top of the posts because of it.

maybe you could move the (post #xx) thingy to the lower right corner and the "Report this post to a moderator | IP: Logged" stuff to the the lower left corner? those two are used seldom anyway.
