Your average week day

Ahhh, The life of a soldier...
All of this is in GMT+1 time.
0445: Alarm goes off, snooze is hit.
0454: Alarm makes return appearance, I finally heed its annoying calls.
0500: After brushing teeth, shaving and first drink of water, plan on getting dressed.
0505: Curse as I cannot find my socks, or the top to my P.T. uniform. (Every morning it is something new, just insert any article of clothing you wish to)
0515: Watch snippets of CNN to see if I am going to get deployed to any crazy war-torn country today
smile.gif
.
0525: Kiss sleepy wife goodbye, and get into my low octane, but very fuel efficient Ford Fiesta. Drive through early morning traffic (Not too bad) at 100 mph (160kph) on the Autobahn, to reach work at 0625.
0630: Physical Training. In short, do lots of push-ups, sit-ups, or any other muscle endurance type exercise for around thirty minutes. Then get up and run somewhere that you really don't want to go, usually involving large hills.
0730: Shower at post gym (I live too far away to go home after PT.) and then go to Burger King. Eat nasty, horrid breakfast and get to work around 0800.
0800: Check CFC and Cnnsi.com. Read newspaper. Get started on some projects I hadn't finished from day before.
0900-1200: Work day starts, tell soldiers what needs to be done, observe and help out where help is needed.
1200: Lunch. Check CFC. Eat something. Try and figure out how to do 10 task with 4 people.
1300-1700: Work continues. Get 5 more tasks to do, but lose one person to a different task altogether. So now have 15 things to do with three people to do it in. Somehow, we make it happen and get it all done by 1700. I stay late to finish up paperwork and such.
1800: Prepare to drive home. Drive 80 mph (135kph) on the way home. Listen to Rush Limbaugh. Decide that Rush is O.K. but a little on the extremist side. Curse out idiot German drivers. Experience German gridlock. Refrain from middle finger usage as it is a fineable offense here in Germany.
1900: Come home... If wife is home, hang out for a bit with her, check the computer, and maybe get a game of Civ going. If wife is not home (still at work until 2100) jump on computer and play civ immediately.
2200: Think about going to bed, but refrain until I get "one more turn in". Or until movie that me and the wife are watching is over.
2300: Usually get into bed about this time, but then end up watching T.V. until 2330.
Sleep then repeat above.

I'm so tired of being tired... Sure as night will follow day... Most things I worry about, never happen anyway...

Hmm...flatlander, ill get back to you on monday cuz i have to run right now, but i just wanted to ask you a few questions since my brother is stationed in germany right now as well. See if you're anywhere close......

until then............

Hey Flatlander, does civ count towards your training?
biggrin.gif
Surely a guy who can command mighty armies of howizters, tanks and stealth bombers on a nightly basis is worthy of a rather high ranking position!

Well CoH, The U.S. Army is a peacekeeping force, so if I was more efficient with Diplos and spys, then I would be a general!!!

Alas, I am a warrior, therefore there is no place for me...
biggrin.gif

Spiff, when I was stationed in Aberdeen, I listened to 98 rock every day!!!

Drake, I go to Kitzingen at least once a week. I play golf on their golf course all the time...

You'll have me to drop a p.m. on what unit he is in... If he is wearing the Big Red One on his arm, there might be a chance that I know him...
biggrin.gif

I went to Kosovo with a bunch of guys from the 701st MSB out of Kitzingen. Their post is pretty lame, and they all have to drive about 30 minutes to get to a suitable American shopping center. Most posts over here are not too different from America, you can pretty much get whatever you need or want or miss from the States. Alot of people are afraid of leaving post, due to the SCARY prospect of dealing with real GERMAN people. So when you want to live around a bunch of Americans, you can with no problems at all.

Where I live there are no Americans at all, and I am pretty immersed into German culture anyway...

I too have an alteration. I am one holiday, so I stay up to 0400, and sleep to between 1000 and 1400. Utterly disgraceful I know, but there is little to do when you only ever have to work at night. I still run, though, except now I bump into schoolkids coming home, rather than going to school

It is all your fault for putting me on US time

, but I live with it, despite growing ravenously hungry between 0300 and 0400. When I move out and get my own place, then there will be a pre dawn feasting of a type never seen since Vlad Dracul said " I am feeling a bit peckish. Bring up a few hundred prisoners, some stakes, and some steaks...."
