For some reason, I love some of the "older" (pre-1990s) TV gameshows. So, what are your favorites?

My personal favorites:

* Match Game
* The $25,000 Pyramid
* Let's Make A Deal
* Family Feud (Richard Dawson)

Hmmm, "Let's Make a Deal" and "Name That Tune". :love:

Is Family Feud the show where there are 2 families, which each have 5 members, and then they're trying to guess what's the most usual answer on some certain question? ( Voitto Kotiin ).

Yes.

They are all examples of the mass lobotomisation of society.

I don't know what I'd do without your editorializing of everything! Thank you...very little.

You can't beat Family Fortunes for some brilliant examples of uneducated peasantry giving some of the most ill-thought-out answers in game show history :lol:

Press your Luck was awesome, one of the few I watched regularly when it was on. I guess the Gong Show wasn't really a gameshow, but it was fun to watch. Let's Make a Deal was good too.

And yes, the original Family Feud (with kisses and crappy graphics.)

Family Fortunes, Rodgers, is that just a U.K. show? I don't think I've ever heard of it here in the States.

I think it's called Family Feud in America - if Family Feud has:
"We asked 'what is the nicest thing you can call your wife?'.
You said 'dumb slapper!'.
Our survey said 'terrible lizard!' "
With appropriate high-pitched tones for right answers, and cacophonous buzzing 'uh-oh' noises for wrong answers. And they ask all the family members for the answers.

Also from Family Fortunes (real examples though):
Les Dennis: "Right then, name something red!"
Contestant: "My cardigan".
Oddly enough, 0% of the people polled suggested that the contestant's cardigan was the first red thing they thought of.

Les Dennis: "Name a dangerous race" (top answer the British Grand National)
Contestant: "The Arabs".

There are loads of answers like this floating around the web. :lol:

Here are a few!

I liked "Let's Make A Deal", the $25,000 Pyramid, Jeopardy (even though I knew Trebek in real life, LOL ;) ).

Continuing the Family Fortunes thing - check out Private Eye's "Dumb Britain" column for some more great replies to quiz show questions.

I also liked Blankety Blank a lot (try and sell that one to the Americans!) especially when Terry Wogan was hosting and Kenny Everett or some other comedian was in the middle seat on the bottom row making "mischief".

The use of Lilly Savage as the new host for that show is a metaphorical p*ssing into the grave of Les Dawson and should be stopped :mad:

I always wanted to see a show, where if the contestant answered a question wrong, you repoed him house.

Or sold his wife into slavery...

I don't DO gameshows...

There was one show I only saw a few times, I think it was called "Inquisition"

Price is Right will always be my favourite, I also enjoy classic Family Feud and The Newleywed game (once again the classic one).

Flatlander: I've always had great ideas for a sadistic game show. Maybe I'll start a new thread for that :D
