Your favourite map type

Title says everything - which map type is your favourite?

Choose from:

- Continents
- Archipelago
- Pangaea
- Terra
- Random Earth
- Earth or parts of it with True Start Locations
- Custom Map [example: postapocalyptic world]
- Fantasy Map
- Completely Random!
- Other Not Typical Maps [only land or maps shaped like beavers and so on]


My favourite - Earth TSL by far. Has this wonderful feeling of changing history, as well as this wonderful excitement 'Oh my God - Germany conquered the entire Europe!'.

i strongly recommend small continents with sea level on low
In my game it can fit 20 civs and 20 states

Edit: I voted Continents since that (and fractal) is the map type I play most of the time.

I either do :

- Earth with TSL (YnAEMP) with modded civs
- Roll a number on random.org to determine which map and civ I'm playing with

Tectonics is the best, it's a mod and it makes a truly unique world. Get about15 or 16 players with the tectonics and quick turns mods going and you have an awesome game.

Mods. Because there are lot of various TSL maps. And they are awesome. I especially recommend Yet Another Earth Maps Pack and Wallergreen's Europe.

I'm guessing every scripted map that's not above (such as large islands, tiny islands, ice age, small continents, etc.) is lumped together in "Other Unique maps" on this poll?

My vote has to be for that lumped option since it's been a really long time since I selected one of the basic maps.

Sorry to ask (since it might derail this thread), but do these sort of map packs disable Steam achievements?

None. The best map script with incredible customization is hands down Communitas Map Script, although I will say Tectonic is quite nice
