Who is your ISP and what do you pay?

I am going to get cable TV and internet soon (tapping into neighbors crappy wireless for about 6 months now). So I had my wife get some rates. They are all somewhat close to each other but I am wondering what is the average.

Also apparently a guy from Comcast has been coming by wanting to talk to me my wife says, so I am thinking I can widdle him down since I can talk to him in person.

Citywide wireless run by the local newspaper. ~$20/month including modem rental, ~300kbps, which is plenty for a home. Bonus is I can plug the modem into an inverter in my car, and have internet anywhere in the city. I used that to look up cars while sitting in the dealer's lot when I was car shopping.

I would actually pay more not to use Comcast. They are a truely evil company, do some googling if you've never heard any of it.

If you go with Comcast get the triple play. If you don't get the locked in rate for 2 years they will nickel and dime you raising the bill every month. It should be $109 a month and that includes phone, cable, net. Also see if there are any offers in the area. I got 6 free tickets to Baltimore Oriole games.

I do Verizon's "Power" plan for $40/mo. It's more than adequate for my needs and it's rare for me to have to download huge files or movies over the internet. It's probably too much but the other alternative where I am is Comcast and despite that it's $20/mo now, it's just a promotion and it'll be more than $40/mo after the 6 months promo thing.

Cytanetmonopolists around 45 euros to get a stupid 1 mb connection.

US$70 for that?!

I feel better about my internet now. :D

MediaCom CC. I currently have a $60 combo bundle for internet and cable for 2 years. I pay $20/mo for unlimited local and long distance with Phone Power. Didn't we just have this thread??

I pay nothing. (see post #2)

The problem with my wireless is that it is intermittent and crappy for most things. Disconnects all the time. I would really like to get back to playing online games.

Unfortunately this might ruin my marriage once I install Diablo 2 on this computer which I will eventually buy:

Behold! The 8th Wonder of the World!!!

Here in New Jersey that is true but in California I had about 99.5% up-time. I'd only lose connection maybe two or three times a week, usually in the middle of the night.

We have a shared meraki network that just opened in January, so I canceled my internet and use the downtown network.

The government run free internet thing was never going to happen, so local businesses joined together to support a free wireless network from the downtown out.

It's nice to live in a small do-it-yourself kind of town.

Comcast I think it's about 40 bucks a month. supposedly it's 6mbs, but since they bought it from Insight and never changed the infrastructure it's still around 10. well it's 10 when they aren't throttling you because you're actually using the service that you paid for. I'm hoping Verizons FIOS lines make it here eventually for roughly the same price it will be 15mbs and could probably get some kind of lower rate for having verizon home and cell phones.

Comcast, about $50. I'm thinking of getting FiOS, but first Verizon needs to expand the lines. The fact that I live in the Silicon Valley and I can't get it is criminal.

I'm a WiFi Pirate.

I am too, but the ISP you steel from? The people I steel from use good old Bell Canada DSL. And unlike Chazumi, it doesn't drop that often.

I connect using the blinding power of american sunshine.

Because the government forces you to pay a license fee on (near absent) British sunshine, right?

Qwest and I have no idea how much I pay (My parents pay). Probably around $40 a month

Comcast triple play. God I hate Comcast. I used to have Cablevision, and it was much better (the cable TV was much better, too -- FOX Soccer Channel FTW).
