On to the subject of German tank design. For the majority of the war, the German had inferior tanks. Im not saying that the Panther or the Tiger tanks were badly designed(Although the Tiger had its share of flaws), they were probably the most influential and modern tank designs of the whole war. But the reality is that neither of those tanks were produced in sufficient numbers, to turn around the war. The single most produced tank in German service, was the Stug III, and they only produced 10.000 during the whole war. The Stug was a conversion of the Panzer III, and overall they offered a very good efficiency compared to their cost. It didn't have a rotating tower, which cut down both costs and build time considerably, and also gave it, its biggest advantage. It had a very low silhouette, making it hard to spot, and easy to camouflage.
For one the panther's tank was an L/71 which is still a ridiculously high caliber
(and the panther actually had higher armor penetration at certain distances than the tiger's 88mm due to longer barrel and slightly larger charge/weight ratio (when corrected for the division of momentum which deteremines the division of energy Ie. mv1=mv2 and e=1/2mv^2)
Anyway the tiger was flawed.
With the Panther, though, any failure in its performance is usually attributed to the deteriorating war condition and not its design. Which even further weighs in its favor as best tank of the war (ever) due to its 10+/1 kill ratio and introduction of many inovations. Highest mussle velocity= highest first hit percentage (flatter trajectory, easier to aim, better impact angle), its zero point gears meant it could rotate in place in order to present the thickest point of armor to opponents, and of course high power to weight ratio for its class and the german crew layout, which is still used. unlike the soviets layout which was archaic.
The worst thing about World War 2 movies and games, is that i always end up cheering for the Germans. Not because i support their ideology, not at all, but it has always fascinated me that they just kept going despite the odds.
That's not true. It's just an urban legend started by Hippocrates (the Greek historian) taking guesses. The Immortals were still an elite unit, they just weren't as good as the Spartans or most other Greek hoplites. The Immortal wasn't stronger than a regular Spear, they were just replaced when they died so that there were always 10,000. I suggest a Spear that starts with Medic.

Sparta was a city-state. I don't think that qualifies as a stand alone civilization. Having it as a part of Greece, as it is currently in the game, is probably the most accurate.
