Your Strongest Unit

In my current game I've got a War Chariot with Orthus' axe, a golden hammer, a great commander... and over 900 experience points. He's actually stopped leveling up because there are no more promotions he can take. Freaking ridiculous.

The insane part is it isn't even a hero, or unique unit... just a war chariot. But that doesn't stop him from killing entire armies singlehandedly... I just had him wipe the Sheim off the map, all by himself. He even died once attacking a decently leveled Eilodon in a well fortified city... but after I'd finished the Pheonix ritual, so he was reborn in my capital... and gained the Blessed promotion! Hurray for another point of strength!

Anyone got any favourites of theirs?
 
The bug which re-added affinity strength when you saved and reloaded a few versions back gave some pretty hefty units, especially Yvain, but I guess that doesn't really count :)
 
On a low level game I had my Alazkhan up to like 1200 experience.

Raider trait is so nice for continual levelling, especially adding in a great commander.

He had nether blade, orthus' axe, staff of souls and a golden hammer. I'd walk in one side of a nation, and walk out the other and everything was dead.

My stongest is probably Alaz with blitz, flanking (just to be a little safer), and heroic str2. 8 kills per turn, move4, illusion for extra range and no worry about ending tile...

He's gonna get nerfed :( I hope only the illusion being vs. living.

My dream unit: A giant monkey (yes, I know they are apes, but calling them monkeys adds to the childish fun of being a monkey fan) with much xp. Since they move one and I do not get them until late (domination or subdue beast) they generally get sent to garrison duty. One of these days, I'm going to get one promoted up and play king kong.
 
Btw how does one attach one of these great commanders to a unit? I've never seemed to notice any spell :s

You need to select a unit on the same tile as the GC, not the GC itself.
 
Govannon with all possible promotions. I think there must have been a bug with Arcane Lacuna, my arcane units got some insanely high amount of XP (11k or so, I think). All my archmages knew every level 3 of every school of magic.

Chalid with 9 sun mana :) I forget what his xp total was, had all the useful promotions though. I think his strength was 28 at that point, between Crown and Pillar of Fire (or a str 24 aurealis) he took stacks and cities down pretty quickly
 
i had once 200+ xp mutated Stygian Guard that started with blitz and strong. I have so low xp cap because of i play only Quick Deity/Immortal games.
 
i agree, alazkan is an xp whore. i usually go for mobility and blitz first. ive been playing on emporer and whole civs cant stop him. stacks of like 18 str 6 units all attacked him at once and i got like 280 pts in one turn...nasty!

If you can get orthos' axe, he can go directly to mobility2 and combat5!

One problem, the blitz from the axe does not go to the illusion :(
 
Baron Halfmorn, with mobility 2 and Orthus's Axe, combat 5, and the rod of air combined with spamming Air nodes.

Turned him loose on the Clan of Embers and watched my horde of werewolves come out of nowhere. Emperor difficulty, Malakim.
 
For me, any hero with high movement tends to get a lot of exp due to blitz, mostly because the prereq for blitz is drill IV... I've had Kithra with final strength around 18 killing units with 11 or 12 strength and not taking any damage due to the 4-7 first strikes (and first strike immunity). With Raider + Great Commander, that's a minimum of 3 exp per kill, often more.
 
i personally like the bandit nietz unit, turning him into a war chariot or knight with 2 aditional strenght thanks to the heroic promotions.
