[C3C] Zombie RPG mod

Oni Ryuu... Yes indeed, congratulations on your continued development. Looks Great.
Talk about a different Game from the Civ Engine, this game is certainly Novel. I can "see" that you have really been working on a "Labor of Love" with this game and that will make the difference with in this meritorious endeavor

Hi guys.
This is just a small update.

Great job. I'm actually quite amazed and have lost all connection to what terrains you are using and what flags are impassable or whatever, which is a great thing!

Yes, I second that! :yup: I cannot believe that this is Civ 3. BtW: Is the refrigerator filled?

Thanks again guys. I wouldn’t know if this stuff was worth doing without your feedback.

Most of these graphics are only temporary. I'm hoping to get the attention of some graphics designers and animators. Everything should look much more natural with expert help.

I’m going to draft out a short demo so everyone can see how the game will look and work.

BtW: Is the refrigerator filled?
Non-alcoholic beer, kale and quorn sausages. The horror!

HI Blue Monkey.

I’m actually using the rivers for road markings.

I could use stuff like ducting, air conditioners and other industrial items. Anything you have on this scale could be quite useful.

EDIT: Do you know how to edit the ‘fog of war’ graphics to make things look like a smoky, moonlit night.

It's been a few years since experimenting, but iirc fog of war is hardcoded & no way to change it.

I have removed the graphics from the roads.pcx file. I then added graphics to the tiles that I could use depending on their position.

When the tiles are connected two tiles display the two halves of the deployed ladders. When the lower tile is pillaged the upper tile shows a third image of a retracted ladder.

An immobile, invisible, nationless and defenceless (immortal) unit is placed on the lower tile to construct or pillage the road. The doors and planks use a similar system. The DIY ladders and climbing rope are fixed.

I’ll write a full tutorial covering everything when the mod’s finished.

Oni Ryuu... The FogOfWar.pcx does seem to be Hard Coded as even if you change the Palette colors or make or add a different Palette such as using Smoke and Shadow Shades found on a Unit Palette, it remains unchanged in Game.

Hi guys

It turns out doing a simple demo requires the same amount of work as making a full level so I started work on the City Centre scenario. Progress has been very slow but I’ve also been developing the game’s features as I go.

I think I have an effective method to make none player characters appear to interact with each other, perform tasks, attract the player’s attention and voice a statement.

I’ve changed the focus of the game to centre on one protagonist. You now select your main character with their unique stats and equipment then start the game with 2 survivors, a dog and their kit.

There will be a point where I can’t continue without the help of an animator (and possibly voice actors :)) so I’ll have to start looking for volunteers eventually. The other stuff will still require months of work so I’m not worried yet.

I cannot believe I have been missing out on this for a year and a half. You have my encouragement and -if I can get the microphone to work- a clumsy voice actor.

Thanks, Takhisis.
I’d love to turn this into a community project. I’m going to need a lot of help so you’re very welcome to join. I've never collaborated on a project like this before so I'm going to make sure that I get everything in order before I ask for such specialist assistance.
I’ve just realised, I’m going to have to write a script.:twitch:

Can someone please provide an answer to these questions?
What are the maximum run times of a unit’s animation and audio files?
What is the maximum area that a unit can occupy?
Could I simply package a custom soundtrack in to one large MP3 file and use it to replace the existing music?
