ZWK PBEM Game

Ok, Easter is gone, it's a miracle we achieved a cease fire for so long. Let's start again, have lot of things to do in my dear Sovjet-country......always have time for this PBEM ;), although I gotta study mathematics today.....and some things similar to Morten...

guess spring is in the air

You need to use Xin's program from two turns ago. Basically it remembers what your production orders were. Then when you play the turn after I take New Orleans, Xin's program will restore the production orders to the way they were when you start your game.

Read his post again and you will understand.

XIN YU SAYS:

Very Important: If it is your first turn, launch Lazyciv AFTER you take control of your civ; however if you have already played a turn, then launch Lazyciv AFTER MPE IS RUNNING BUT BEFORE YOU TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CIV (i.e., launch Lazyciv when you select your civ).
This is because the program saves your building queue in certain places, and before your first turn those places consist nothing but garbage. If you launch too early then your city productions will be replaced by those garbage. However if you launch too late in subsequent turns then the program will not have a chance to recover your building queue before you take control of your civ.

Yes. Let's do so. I'll grumble and b*itch and immediately send all those stupid commanders disobeying our orders and jeopardizing the safety of Der Reich to our work camps in Bayern...

However I think it is a serious flaw in pbem games, one that I wasn't aware of before, and which seems difficult to avoid. Maybe its because the other pbems I have been playing have been comparatively peaceful. But then again, nothing out of the ordinary seemed to happen when the Allies took the cities in Norway. (or it must've slipped my attention, which is less probable, since that one took a lot of strategical planning). In anycase, maybe Xin can improve his util somehow for later times, to avoid the hex stuff, which I also know as much as nothing about.

Lets play on... Where were we... yes... the death penalty and work camp sentences for life... hmmm.. we'll have to promote a lot of people... playing...

A lot of people were fired this week and sent to unknown destinies in remote corners of Der Dritte Reich... Seems the unathorized bureaucracy has called in a vastly excessive number of young inexperienced draftees. Orders were immediately switched to the object of crucial importance to the safety of Germany and her possessions : Obtain a reasonable surplus on the national balance to compete scientifically with the vastly advanced Allies.

Sadly enough, the AI has probably messed up food/shield/trade priorities for each city, but I haven't got the time to check each city right now, so I'm gonna do it along the way. Its a lot of cities to adjust, and I don't know if the AI pulls my leg again some time, so I guess I'm playing a bit more casual now. ;) I'll probably lose to the allies either way.

The concept of War Heroes (yet another wonder) was introduced this week in the American City of Boston. Citizens of the free world are completley sold on the idea - not realising that the so called heroes were merly rank amatures compared to German Fighter and Panzer Aces. Allied high command introduced a few military men such as Captain America, G.I. Joe and Ultraman who quickly became idols of a generation. All of a sudden, everyone is perfectly happy with fighting a war and the doubling of units sent to the front has caused no unhappiness at all.

In Norway, Allied Intelligence was completely shocked that the Germans had somehow managed to scrape together enough steel to field yet another battlegroup but three British warship squadrons quickly cornered the heavy cruiser Seydlitz (our stupid guys thought she was being converted into a carrier!) and sent her to the bottom of the fjiords. The spearhead force of the 221st armoured brigade lost in the surprise attack will be morned but the campaign to free Norway continues unabated using the remainder of 22 div.

Off the west coast of Italy, the city of Ajacio was finally subdued after heavy air and naval bombardment. Sardinia and Corsica will now serve as a stepping stone for......wouldn't you like to know

The Germans and Russians seem to have made much headway in swallowing up major parts of the minor Axis after their initial setbacks.

 Yeah, Morten and I made some changes out there....

* Industrial Estate ready in Soviet Asia
* Stalingrad gives its employers cofee breaks
* S.S.S. Lenin leaves Rostov to control the Black Sea

Once again I must congragulate the German commander of forces defending Norway. Once again heavy losses have been inflicted on Allied Forces even in the face of overwhelming odds. Could it really be that what's his name is still alive. Unfortunately General Montgomerashi is in France trapping von Paulus or this would have been an interesting battle.

We've decided to give the brave aviators of the HE-111 squadron a break and concentrate on the fighters. Finally we did manage to shoot down a depleted squadron of those nifty FockeWulf fighters that Jerry is now using just to see what makes them tick.

What the hell are are research boys doing - our spitfire airframe is really showing its age now. Other than that, the Allies are now rather inactive until the 'trigger' event. Till then we will continue building up our forces - including new P-38 Long range escourts.

WAR ERUPTS IN EAST-EUROPE
Soviet division open eastern front
Soviet divisions have started an offensive at 4 different places between Yugoslavia and the Baltics.
In the battle of Kovno, heavy fights between the Germans and Soviets resulted in the total anihilation of the city, German and Soviets soldiers are still fighting. Heavy loses in the fighter squadrons were necessary to break a bloccade near Kovno.
A bit more south Lwow was bombed to pieces and the remaining German army slaughtered, but again heavy losses in air, this time the bomber squadron.
The Rumanian Oil Fields of Plusti were taken with ease as 2 Lancasters took care of the air defence and other bombers took care of all the other defenders, after that 4 different divisions moved into the city with its structures and the pipeline to Germany was destroyed. Germany will experience difficulties with supplying their new Panzers shortly.
Even further south, in Yugoslavia, bombers from Sofia bombed Belgrad which was take by a fast approaching tank division, which had been on its way for a month already. The Russian navy shor bombarded the city of Saloniki and attacked with a tank division too, but German defences hold position. A bombardment of Sarajevo didn't result in the total anihilation of defensive troops either.
Secretary-General Chukov has announced further offensives against the Germans, but expects to be beaten back by the Germans first.

German forces were taken by complete surprise by the russian aggression this week. It seems the allies has presented the russians with a complete line of lancasters, directly from the factories in Boston.

And once again, incompetent officials has taken liberties to change production orders, in this time of severe crisis for Germany. Of course, most of these russian paid moles have been sentenced to death for high treason, while High Command struggle to find decent replacements. (on a side note, "Actually this executing people and changing orders all over the reich is beginning to piss me off", said Herr Hess in a comment.. He has now retreated to his bunker in Berlin, and sworn to surrender to the Allies only, cursing russian treachery. Only his servant and officers of high command are now allowed entry to his private chambers)

The Russians are warned, however, that the already high casualties inflicted on their forces in the inital defense will mount as they march towards Berlin, which they surely will. Because german retaliation will not come rash, but it will come.

In separate action, Toulon and Milano was taken by Axis forces, and an allied battlegroup was sunk east of Dover.

Chukov laughs at Hess' thoughts. A good leader would've noticed that the peace treatment is over since this turn (or even last). Chukov is pleased to remember Hess that last named only wanted a 10 turn peace, instead of peace for an undefined time. In the treaty there's no paragraph saying one must declare war a turn before. Besides that Chukov thinks Hess expected the attack long before, since the units stacked outside Kovno were a clear example of strategic defence, which had to be eliminated by several Bf-109 squadrons.

This is not true. For some reason, the Soviets were way ahead of us in bomber development and the magnanimous Chukov actually gave the design of the Tu-29 Superfortress to Boeing. I had offered the services of a couple of squadrons of Lancs to Chukov but he said he didn't need them.

(I suspect AoA used a commando in North Africa to get Air Battle Analysis from the Allies early in the game but nobody currently playing actually knows why the Soviets could research B-29 and because of the stupid Eniac wonder that AoA rush built, they developed it first).

p.s. if you hate the Soviets so much how about emptying all the cities between Paris and Berlin.

Come on, kobe ;) Let's see how the re-opening of the Easternfront affected the troops in the West.

And Morten, you better set up a welcome commity in Prussia and Warsaw.

As expected, 22Div has entered Oslo and a measly 3 gold was plundered. Some enemy infantry were discovered dug in north of the city and obliterated via carpet bombing.

In Southern France, stubborn resistance led to an attack of overwhelming odds at the French City of Vichy. The city was reduced to rubble and no longer exists. Axis troops at Bordeaux are now effectively trapped with this latest pincer attack. In any case, Allied high comand feels that our objective of denying Donitz a French port to operate U-boats in the Atlantic has been achieved.

The loss of our perimeter cruisers has led to another sacking of the head of Admiralty. All plans for operation Market Garden have been postponed indefinitely. PM Churkobi was overheard as saying "#*&%%#@". Fortunately two more new battleships could be rush built.
