turn 120 cultural victory challenge

Hello. Sorry to be late for the party, just noticed the link on your sig.
Pure Sacred Sites strategy for me on this one so Piety opening and no mixing with Liberty. The result is T57 reformation
Spoiler :

I didn't even bother killing Shaka. Dowed him when i saw an unescorted settler moving towards the salt-wheat spot where i wanted to put a city. Killed his units fast and he offered a nice size 1 city next to the Crater for peace.
Took Initiation Rites for Founder. 100 gold straight is much better for short games. Allowed me to buy some settlers and make up for lack of fast settlers from Liberty.
First Belief was Monastery (cheaper to buy so more faith faster for more buildings) then Pagodas for some happiness. Enhancer was of course Itinerent Preachers so my religion would spread like wildfire. Mostly build order has been shrine-monument-archer (or CB)*2 in all cities.
First Influential culture onT77. Guess who?
Spoiler :

Buying Open Borders with luxuries helped me in the end. Culture Victory on T105. On this screenshot you can see thanks to EUI a crapload of crappy cities building libraries on T105.
Spoiler :

Plenty of tiles should be improved and i still have a city that's not connected by road

Sacred sites is quite hard on Deity. This is a perfect map to practice this strategy for people who never used it (that was actually my first successful attempt, tried out once before but made the mistake to mix liberty and piety and was late to start producing tourism)
But yep, i encourage Dushku to try some of the old Deity Challenge Lineup games in the strategy sub-forum, or join the new Community Deity Games series but maybe wait for CDG6 that hopefully won't use NQmap script (this script tends to push AIs to go rexing and changes the dynamic of the game a lot)

All of my attempts at Sacred Sites have failed miserably as well. On Deity, I think only Poland or Spain on a Natural Wonder heavy cooked map could pull it off. The AI just gets a religion far too quickly, and then there is nowhere to expand. They usually reform at turn 60 with sacred sites in tow at standard speed, and last religion goes at turn 50 anyways. TSG125 (The Christmas Special) Might have been a good candidate, but I didn't realize this until I had committed to a safe boring old 4 City Tradition game. I might have to replay it and see what can be done, after I learn how on this wonderful map. Very good video, I'm watching more.

As for those CDG's, I highly recommend them as well, even if new to Deity because they are still fun. I have only 1 Deity win total so far (Diplomacy of course...) that I can remember, and many losses, but it won't stop me from trying them any time I get the chance. The NQ Map script though is clearly not for Single Player, and I think only the series founder will be making maps with it if he ever returns.

The problem with doing Sacred Sites on deity is not really the quick religion that AI gets, it has to do with how quickly the AI techs and able to get high culture making the whole strategy obsolete. Once AI gets a couple of wonders and/or landmarks, it's impossible to win via SS. Even if you can get double religion buildings with SS reformation which is difficult by itself, it's still extremely difficult to win by SS for this reason. It seems to also require something like 20+ cities and no deity AI will like that so also need to be able to defend them.
