WW1 gold USA
WW2 gold USA

Are you counting incoming or outgoing points. Imma give WWII Gold to the USSR.

Spoiler scorecard :

Yes. It's math.

USA wins the gold in WW2 for coming out of it relatively unscathed and the world's dominant power (USSR gets silver because it suffered through a German invasion that took decades to recover from and arguably still hasn't fully recovered). USA doesn't even medal in WW1.

In WW1 America was like a 16 year old who didn't medal, but everyone knew was the one to beat in the next Olympics.

Then again some 16-year olds do medal, gold-medal that is, and also have athletic routines named after them ^^

Well ok, no ordinary 16-year old. In the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, Melissanidis, imo the most impressive athlete of recent olympics.

For walking on snow, ice, some rock, pavement, mixed icing conditions, these are good. Those aren't for actual climbing, I don't think. But for hiking in icy places they'd probably be a better choice. And they don't wear out or break too easy.

Not even the silver medal winners. Didn't even place in fact. I'd say the medal winners in both world wars are as follows:

WWI: Gold: Great Britain, Silver: France, Bronze: US

WWII: Gold: US, Silver: USSR, Bronze: China

In both instances Germany had strong routines, but their inability to stick the landing cost them.
In WW2, the soviets won the war in Europe hands down and earned the gold. In Asia the gold goes to the US. Two different events.

I don't know, you lot, but the Germans do seem to be succeeding at conquering Europe.

If we're breaking it into Europe and Asia/Pacific, then it's:

Europe: Gold: USSR Silver: UK Bronze: USA
Asia/Pacific: Gold: USA Silver: China Bronze: UK

The reason that the US gets gold in WWI is that Germany had Britain and France on the ropes, and was very well positioned for the gold. It wasn't a certainty, but things were really starting to go there way.

Except that every time Germany scored a key point against France, there was the US to stop them.

Spoiler scorecard :
No labor theory of value for who wins the medal. We honor the USSR for the most determined, greatest contribution to WW2. We honor the USA with the gold medal of victory.

Yeah, but we still get the overall gold because we were able to convince the world that we won in both Asia and Europe. So we get style points.

@Commodore, you get the new thread.

It's now been 24 hours since #1000 was made, so the honours now pass to #999 (Valka), who started the thread, so it carries onto #998, which happens to be me.

Okay, Jafar.

What exactly do you mean by that?
