SOTD5: Barbarian Civilization

If a barbarian civilization captures a holy city early enough and is left alone by the AI for a long period of time, its culture can become massive and it can carve itself out a nice little corner of the continent.

Is that some kind of mod, with all the weird signs at your unit display, and the 'slug' that's being built...

It's the BUG mod (Beyond the Sworld Unaltered Gameplay) which as it claims doesn't alter the gameplay at all, just enhances the HUD and such to make things more convenient. The "slug" is the name of the capital... that bar is its Great People points. (It's actually not my game, but my little brother's. ;) )

Also barbs do have their own research, but I'm pretty sure the holy city isn't shrined, so it wouldn't actually help them. All those cottages nearby would though, until the knight pillaged them all for cash. Also I forgot to mention this, but Choose Religions was on, so Christianity was one of the first two founded, the barbs didn't capture a city in the medieval era.

Unfortunately a few hundred years later one of the AIs captured the two cities and the glorious barbarian empire fell. :egypt:

I don't think one knight will be enough... ;)

The barbs raised my holy city :/
It appeared to be the third religion founded by me, so it didn't quite matter (;

:wow: Who can figure out if the Barbs manages a huge empire or even a better than ours ?? :dunno:

Will barbarians ever "settle down" and become a proper empire? I seem to recall that they would in Civ 3 or 2.

Can you point me in the direction to find more about this mod? I cannot seem to locate it in the download part with all those sub-forums for python and xml and all that. Thanks

Edit: :shake: Found it. Can't imagine why I missed it the first time.

in one of my latest games barb also had a city such as those ones with really wide cultural borders. however it seems that they are not so clever in proctecting it; what happened was, I was camping at the skirts of the city border to gather up some more man. Then I just saw that they started sending militia from the city towards the south. all left 4 me was to sit on the empty city.
