  • Am I to assume that my Megatherium proposal has been rejected, & I must come up with another animal?
Alrighty, send me your email and I'll give it to you.

Sorry about you being sick. I was sick for like a month and I think it may still be in my system. I still have cold symptoms on and off. Good luck getting better.
Oh, I haven't worked on it practically at all since I talked to you. I need to find the motivation to edit but I've been working on outlining my Monster-Hunter series (You may remember which one since I've talked to you about those at one point). Regarding the one I finished I'm kind of in a "I know some stuff needs fixing but I'm not really sure what" phase. I'd be willing to send it to you but it probably needs a lot of work. You may or may not want to look at it in its current state.
Happy birthday! I just saw it at the bottom of CFC index. Hope you're having a nice day! :)
I don't mind letting people I know read a less than perfect copy with a disclaimer that I'm not done yet, but there are definitely at least a few tweaks I want to make before I let anyone look at it. I know basically everyone in my family will want to read it, and some of my classmates have been asking me about it as well, which leads to a question, how many people should I let read it before attempting publication? I'm definitely going to give it to everyone in my family, but I'm not as sure that I should be giving it to people in my school.
Luckily I had the urge to take a break anyway, I want to spend at least a short amount of time pretending like I'm actually done even though I'm certainly not;)

How long should I let it sit?
I finished this a lot quicker than I thought I would, finishing the first draft last night. What was that, like two weeks? And I got over 20 pages done in that timeframe. My final wordcount for round one was somewhere between 84 and 85K, and a page count of 216.

I'm going to refine some before sending it to you since I know you're going to nail it;) and I'm taking a break from this particular story for a bit (Don't know how long yet) so I'll be working on something else for a little while. Its unlikely I'll finish the work I'm currently doing (The other series I'm working on is like a "Tolkien-style world in the modern era" type thing) before going back to the one I just finished, however.
Just to give you an update, I'm currently at 71.5K (Roughly) in wordcount, on page 182 (Single-spaced, except with an empty line in between each paragraph) and I've gotten three pages done tonight so I'm kinda on a roll ATM. I think I've gotten through most of the "Tough to write" parts. Its just a matter of getting to the last page at this point. Mostly battle scenes to go. I really suck at those so I suspect editing will be of the essence.

I don't see getting done within 80K as particularly likely, I guess we'll see, but 90K for this draft seems realistic.

There is likely more than this, but I KNOW I need to fix the following:

    Combat scenes

    A few transition points

Come up with a name for the world (Currently its just "The planet" or "The world" because I didn't think of one but I can't keep it as that since it isn't earth, doubly so because I plan on tying it in with other works that DO deal with earth.)
I don't anticipate much over 100K in this draft, it will probably actually be less than that. 80K seems more realistic, if that much.

I have a feeling I've underdone it on the description though. Although maybe not. And I've definitely underdone it on certain scenes that I've virtually skipped.
Yeah, I've got you, its going to die:p

I don't know how long its going to take from here, I've probably got somewhere in the ballpark of 40-80 pages left in the current draft (So a 200-240 page first draft, that's probably too long:p)

I'll be sure to let you know. Thanks for the help:)
I may have to split this into two books:p (Its already gonna be a trilogy, maybe it'll need to be 4.) This first draft is already going to likely pass 200 pages. The final more like 300. My current wordcount is like 63K or so. Yeah, it may be that I have to split it once I'm done editing. Although I have no idea if I've overdone description or underdone. There are a few scenes I've kind of "Buzzed through" to avoid writer's block, but I may have also gone overboard in certain parts.

If you're willing to look at my stuff again, I'd appreciate any editing help. Just let me know.
I'm getting excited now because I'm now over 160 pages into the current book I'm working on (The one I sent you the prologue for most recently):)
Even if I had the time to play another IOT (which I don't), Ravus claimed England. :p Also, when somebody just dropped out of another IOT due to lack of time, I have some doubts about how long any game they GM is going to continue. :p
