The PolyCast (PC) 2007 Christmas Special has arrived entitled "Girls Playing Civ" (89m59s). It's an all-female panel led by 'Makahlua' with first-time guests 'Cartimandua', 'KMadCandy' and 'Nolan'. :queen:

As the show's Christmas edition, it's 50% longer than your standard episode! As the four play into the stereotype that women hop topics every few minutes, the combination allows them to discuss dozens of topics on the venerable Civilization series series.

Topics are:

05m57s: Getting into Civilization
10m50s: Engaging in Multiplayer
15m35s: Playstyles
21m26s: City Naming
26m57s: Difficulty Levels
30m41s: Interest in History

33m29s: In-Game Signs
37m35s: Most Powerful Unit
40m16s: Playing Morally
42m33s: On Random Events
44m06s: Pre-War Strategies
46m08s: Favourite Civics
50m27s: Most Useless Unit
51m45s: Units in General
53m47s: Technology Routes
56m34s: Restarting a Map
58m01s: Favourite Map Types
60m32s: Naval Warfare
66m35s: Diplogaming

68m21s: Random Leaders
71m03s: Saving Your Games
75m54s: The Modding Front
77m37s: On Civilization: Revolution
80m03s: Civilization V Wishlist
81m54s: History Lessons

Enjoy! Feedback is welcome and encouraged. :yeah:

You can only listen it :(

Listening girls talking about civ :goodjob:

"Tries to be one not to giggle"

"He's got really pretty color too!" :goodjob:

Btw, it's very disturbing to watch Cow & Chicken and King of the Hill on mute while listening this (not to meant as an offence in any way :))

"Which Caesar?"

Now its getting mega-giggly .. 65mins ->

Great - Kmad is doing good. That giggle is becoming legendary!

Great quotes:
"...and then I ask Hubby: I just founded a city, guess what resources it has?"
"Pigs and iron...?"
"I got pig iron! I got pig iron! I GOT ALL PIG IRON!"

"sometimes, not very often, I name all of my cities after candy "

"For me an early war is around steel"

"I can lose on all difficulty levels"

There is gotta be *giggling* with KMadCandy involved
:yup::D

Good list.

Glad everyone is enjoying what they're hearing! Spread the good word of it and PolyCast in general.

"Which Caesar?"
that is a fully legitimate question! there were two caesars in history you know ... julius and gus. i get the feeling gus was easier to get along with.

this podcasts is simply awesome. I've added it to favorite websites.
we had way too much fun doing it! :) the older episodes are fun ... especially where DanQ gets details of the game wrong :p. he used to play on pre-settler level, but he's actually learning. he was a noob but he's not a permanoob - only some of us get that distinction.

ZOMFG KMad's gonna be on PolyCast????
it's true! not even "gonna be", it's already up there. i'm kind of afraid to listen to it. it was a blast to tape it but i said so many dorky things! anyone who's read at least 7 of my posts knows i'm not above admitting embarrassing things, of course, and that i'm completely silly. but i dunno, this might be too much *giggle*.

how many pharaohs were there? i've heard of King Tut, i even saw his stuff! but i can't think of Pharaoh Anybody. so caesar is the roman equivalent of a word that i don't know what it means. very useful, thanks!

;) *giggle*
Spoiler :
actually i thought it was kind of generic, but i wasn't sure. so i asked hubby before posting, he said yup. so then i posted that, to be extra silly. but i actually wasn't 100% sure, i am truly that bad about history. i bet dan didn't edit the show enough to make me look actually smart about history or geography. even he can't do the impossible! *giggle*

I like this format much better.

No moar boyz plz

And now that I've actually heard to infamous Kmad giggles I'm going to have a lot more fun reading her posts :p

"I can lose on all difficulty levels"

Hey DanQ, you finally got yourself a rival :P.

Hey Kmad, do you raze AI/opponent cities if there's a location where you could get PigIron????

Haha, this is awesome! :goodjob: I'll probably listen to this a couple of times xD

Both Ramesses II and Hatshepsut styled themselves Pharaoh, for a start, as did Tutankhamun. The word is most commonly used as a synonym for "king", and Hatshepsut actually dressed as a man to legitimize her claim to the title.

"Caesar" just went on to mean "emperor" - actually, the word for emperor in several European languages evolved from the word "Caesar".

The polycast was great fun, as always. It's always interesting to find out what the different people behind the handles and avatars around these forums actually sound like.

Poor KMad... ;)

Excellent! This will make for some great listening later tonight!

Thanks in advance, DanQ.
Welcome! Hope you'll follow-up when you've had a listen.

I like this format much better.

What an unexpected turn in the comments... ;)

The format for this episode was atypical and its panel not a regular composite. Still, scheduling permitting one or more of the first-time guests here may return for another episode or more come the New Year. :)

And now that I've actually heard to infamous Kmad giggles I'm going to have a lot more fun reading her posts :p

:smug:

I effectively listened to this episode some times more still before it was even released :mischief: and it does have replay value. :yup:

The polycast was great fun, as always.
