1.52 Patch Available

I notice afew new things, you can change your name (and other info) in game, there is a longer game mode (over 1100 turns). That is the only ones I can see now

HEY, they changed the Civilopedia! It's now easier to find stuff because it has the words next to the icons.

Are old saves from 1.09 game compatible? I want to know if I shoud finish up my current game before getting the patch.

I'm happy to have been one of the first to see this. It took me about 10 min to download, but it will probably become a lot slower soon.

the patch also brings up another questions, that is Harkonnen's fix...do we need to uninstall that first?

Hope all the software gurus around can tell.

Hark's patch will not be loaded after installing 1.52 (so you don't have to uninstall it). 1.52 has extensive memory and performance improvements, (beyond what the Hark patch does), so no additional patches should be used.

If i disable globel view buildings I get a fast 8 fps ... that's a 166% improvenment. Don't use globel view that much anyways so atleast now it runs reasonable.

New settings in custom game:

1. New Random Seed on Reload - "A new random seed is generated every time the game is reloaded - which, for example, will lead to different combat results"
2. No cheating - "Debug tools cannot be used, and the game assets cannot be modified. Useful for competitive single-player games."

I don't get this one ...

Is there an alternative server to get the patch? It seems like because of the post in here, 2kgames' server is getting hammered.

Build notes have been provided to the forum admins.
Yes, old saves are compatible.

This is great! I've accidentally toggled World Builder a few times when I meant to turn on the grid or tiles. Bad enough in a single player game (how can you *not* settle in a location once you know iron is there.) If it had happened while playing the GOTM, I'd be pretty upset.

There's a new game speed called "Marathon"

Sounds like a very nice change (the longer game mode that is:D ), hopefully that will get me interested in the game again

Just wish it had come out 3 days earlier, then I could be DLing it at uni on my nice 8Mbit connection instead:p

So we have a decent 'epic' game at last? Or did they further increase building times thereby evening it out again?

The previous way stored the random number seed in save so that reloading a combat over and over gave the same results each time. Now you have the option to not have it work that way, in which a reload can give different results.

never mind This could be a mod i dl a month ago.
