Thanks, everyone for the fun game. I owe a lot of credit to Bathsheba666, who played the majority of the game and set me up for a fairly straightforward space victory.
When I took over around 1500, I inherited a very strong India and a very weak Russia. Tim and Agemo had a slight tech advantage and they wouldn’t trade with Dazz and me. So Dazz and I decided to coordinate our tech research in an attempt to catch up.
India began building up forces for an attack on Saladin (Agemo) so that I could own the entire continent. I was about two turns from attacking Arabia, when 1889 took over for Dazz and Onclouds took over for Agemo and the whole game was up in the air for a few turns. Onclouds wanted a peaceful game and 1889 convinced me to wait until he could build up his forces so that we could attack Arabia from both directions. This gave me time to really focus on science, which is what won the game for me.
Things were a little dicey in the late 1700s because Tim had a huge navy and he could have caused me a lot of trouble. He would have had a tough time taking any of my cities, but he could have destroyed my wimpy navy and pillaged all of my fishing nets. I assume, Tim was waiting for an opportunity for a knockout blow, which never came.
I’m currently playing a game similar to this one. The biggest difference is that the civs are teammates (i.e. share vision, research, wonders, etc.) and that each team has a continent to itself. We’re very early on in the game, but it’s looking like it will be a fun game.
