After 2000 hrs on multiplayer gaming I thought I knew everything there is to possibly know about the game. Well, I was surprized to find out a new little tidbit about it. Have you ever noticed that when the barbarian unit (on diety) which captured a worker never attacks another worker or settler until he takes the original one to his camp? That is true indeed. So, I assumed same applies to great people walking around a barbarian would be left untouched. WRONG. Barbs do attack great people even if they have a captured worker with them. Great scientist wasted, lesson learned.

I suppose the logic is that while it can murder an infinite amount of great people, it can only carry a single worker on it's hex, sometimes I get the feeling that the barbs combat abilities are better programmed then the civ's themselves.

If a barb is at 2 tiles from his camp, the stolen worker will hide in that camp while the barb go elsewhere, hence giving chance to lose another non military unit if undefended.

Also, multiplayer barbs are much more annoying than singleplayer because they can spawn and move on the same turn.
