in the page: ASK THE CIV TEAM - 10/19/01 EDITION I read this ......

Depending on the map size you select, you may play with up to 16 Civs at once. The foreign advisor screen will only display eight civs at a time, however, so you can hold shift & right click on any of the eight slots on that screen to select another known civ to display. Using the editor, you can modify the game rules to force even tiny maps to support 16 players if you wish, but we don't recommend it if you're claustrophobic! .......

We will really be able to use 16 civs in ascenario or play with all of them at once??

It appears so!

Isn't it just splendid!:crazyeyes

Not more "minor Axis allies" crap in WW2 scenarios!

Now yugoslavians and vichy france can be represented!
for a rome sceanrio we can have all those funky etruscan tribes!

SID M for Caesar!:king:

Wow ! I'll be super evil , & devise a map with only one continent , no resources ( yes ! ) , & starting locations only one square apart . Then I'll conquer all with only my scout ( remenber , expansionist ) . I'll get the highest score on diety this way , & be the first to do so .

Just curious, how is you 0.0.2 scout unit going to engage in combat?

WOO_HOOO!
Great, ever since I started playing Civ2 i always wondered what it might be like to have more civs at a time. Now at last, i will be able to play a proper world history game!
:tank:

HUGE world map with all 16 civs on it and play world domination. :)

I stand corrected. Now I hear you can do 16 even on a small map.

Talk about primitive warfare! :hammer: [punch] :spank:

Major combat in 3000 bc!

I think what he meant was, once the City was built, the scout would just move in and take it (as it is undefended).
Of course, this scenario depends on two things:
* his is the only expanionist civ
* scouts can take undefended cities

:tank:

YEAH - 16 CIVS - teh scenario possibilyty's are endless and the games are going to be fantastic: negotiating with 16 civs - incredible (as long as its done like ctp where even though you could have 31 civs they were all rubbish)

A unit with 0 attack can't go about taking cities ;)

Yes, this will be great for scenario makers. I've already begun laying out a very complex one on paper which will involve 13 tribes :goodjob:

only 13 hippo?? - my world at the time of the american civil war has 16: oh that is going to be a great scenario and all mine

Ah...but mine is of the fantasy/Sci-Fi variety and it's actually 13 different species. That's why I was asking about terrain-specific advantages the other day....;)

I hate sci-fi. :alien: :hammer:

But I'll keep an open mind, just because it's the 'Hip'-ster. ( It better be good ) ;)

I am very happy about 16 civs in a game.[dance] This feature alone could make the game much, much more challenging in single player, not to mention better scenarios.

For Example:

WWII - Every scenario has Axis (1 country), allies (1 country).
Now you could have US, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy...etc.
Maybe not a big deal, but I like details. :D

But do you hate historical sci-fi? ;) Actually, sci-fi is probably the wrong term for it. I could go on for hours, but it's essentially the development of sentient life on anther world...:satan:

Damn rights :hammer::D

I'm in such a good mood...:king:
