Note that for me at least there was some bug on the steam side that caused it to get stuck thinking there was an update (but there's not since I have the PC version). I had to go into options and verify integrity for it to download a file that went missing in order to play again.

Well I am stuck on 73% and cannot play Steam. I tried the verify thing and said I had 4 files missing. I clicked "ok"and nothing happened. I am still stuck on 73%. This is very annoying
Indeed, playing the Windows version on Bootcamp, I loaded Steam and Civ5 has 'Update Required' next to it. Nothing downloaded, though, as far as I can tell, but I'm having to verify integrity of the game cache now. Apparently I have one file missing that is being reacquired. Odd for this to happen when there isn't a patch?

I have reinstalled Civ V and the problem persists.....stuck at 90% and all files are succesfully validated.......this is concerning....

I also had to verify the game cache before it would load. Windows would just give a generic error and close the program prior to doing that. I don't think it was Mac only, or if it was, something got messed up in their deployment.
