2 armies from huts!!

huge map, 7 opponents, me aztecs. latest patch, seemed to be a high predominance of barbarians, few tech, and twice conscript armies. kinda cool at ~1400bc. On a different game got settlers three times. Never got this kinda stuff playing non-patched versions, but that might have been just incidental.

I keep hearing about all these wonderful things that people are now finding in goody huts (Armies, settlers, swordsmen, dates with Nicole Kidman, etc.), but all I keep getting is all crap that I used to get pre-patch (maps, 50 gold, warriors, etc.).

Just some bad luck and a very random random number generator.

As a scientifically weak test I reloaded a game a number of times at 4,000BC. Sometimes I received a good balance of techs, units, armies, maps, settlers, and barbs. Sometimes, barb, barb, barb..... On occassion, only 1 barb, 2 armies, some spearmen, settlers and warriors.

The way it is now, the expansionist trait has been bumped up a notch.

Also post patch, it seems on the really big 250x250 maps, the AI's don't explore every single little black spot ASAP. So I'm finding more goody huts in the later part of the early game. Sometime quite close to AI borders.
 
I just read a post on Apolyton by Jeff Morris of Firaxis. He said that getting armies and other advanced units from huts was a bug that existed in the version of the 1.17 patch that was distributed on 14 Feb, and that it was quietly fixed in the version that was posted to www.firaxis.com on 15 Feb.

I'm sticking with the Feb14 version of 1.17. Period.

You can't make me take it back!:D
