20k Culture Guide?

Ah that is most helpful. Shame so much older stuff is broken. I wonder if it even can be fixed?

I quickly fixed this link.
The rest can be fixed, it's mostly a matter of ... doing it.
Changes are quite simple, since links like:
Code:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=52733

need to be replaced with
Code:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/52733

so everything can easily be found.
I have still have quite some chunks of work on my plate (see the download database thread in SF), but I guess after that I can take a go at this.
(unless someone else with some coding skills wants to volunteer... ; I think doing this by hand will simply take too long)

EDIT: If you think that some need to be urgently fixed (e.g. links to patches or central resources), then let me know, I'll do them manually.

<noparse>You could just use the <thread> and <post> tags instead of the <url> one.</noparse>

Edit: Could somebody please reinstate the noparse tag? A crapton of older posts must be broken since CFC never reinstated a lot of tags that were in use.

Could we have a list of the valid BBCode tags? Because http://forums.civfanatics.com/misc.php?do=bbcode won't work anymore.

Back on topic, how're the attempts at the one-city cultural victory coming?

Pretty terribly, think I am waaay too late for this one. Interesting map to start again and see if it is winnable though..

Pretty terribly

I suppose that is why it is smart to not build any settlers before all wonders of the ancient age and all available wonders of the middle age are completed. What happens after the end of the middle age has little impact as culture producing buildings are most "used up" and of course you do want the double culture per turn from all buildings that are older than 1000 years.

As a rule of thumb: You need to max out the amount of culture you produce per turn by around 500 AD. And then wait till around 1750 AD for the victory condition to trigger.

That's a freaking wonderland of an island!
Even if you don't have the 4000 BC.sav file, you should still be able to repeat the world by using the ‘play last world’ option.

Is it? Zero luxuries or even water for irrigation. It was also long time before I was able to get contact as well as any rivals are a long way of sea tiles away too! My GA also fell when there was no wonder to build :(

I'll do that and post the 4000 if any fancies a go?

So hard to resist... how can I get the tech's I need etc if I don't get other cities up and contributing to research?

Nope, it loads some other attempts I have made later :(

Wouldn't you need enough defensive units in case of an attack? Obviously less of a problem if you're on an island (except for eventual Berserkers, anyway), but just on general principle?
