2K couldnt help me maybe you can?

Well i was on the phone with 2K for 2 1/2 hours last night and 2 support people couldnt help so they sent my case to their engineers to see if they can figure it out. I know we have lots of programmers and computer engineers in this forum so I figured I see if anyone here has any ideas.

Ok heres the problem after about 3 or 4 minutes of play the game completely freezes up can't move anything it makes this screaching sound and I have to manually reboot.

- We have done MsConfig and closed all background application from running
- Updated drivers for both Vid card and Sound card
- Re-installed
- Unpacked some file called art something
- ruled out over heating
- Completely removed all temp files from my computer
- Defraged
- Ran a virus scan

I can't figure out how to post my DXDIAG on here so if anyone thinks they might be able to help let me know and I'll email you it.

There is more however I cannot recall what else we did at the moment so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh and the game used to run but It started getting very very slow so I re-installed it and now all this stuff is happeneing.

What sound card are you using? Not an Audigy by any chance?

Well I have made a discovery don't know if it's significant or not but never the less. I DL the latest drivers for Nvidia 81.94 I believe just came out today. I tried a game again and it actually worked with no freezing or nothing I ended up losing very early I was conquered but whatever. the thing is i had changed map types I played the desert oasis one with everything on random I was trying to play on continents before when It kept freezing so I tried continents again and It froze then I tried archipelago and it froze everything is at the same settings as it was for the desert map but yet they freeze.

This game is just giving me headaches now I really really want to play it's right in front of me but the stupid thing wont work Im so frustrated right Plz someone help. Even if you just have a theory lets here it.

Not meaning to be rude, but there are a lot of people with issues of CTD's, lockups and such. Me included...we are all frustrated.

Try reading through the Tech Support Forum and Bug Report Forums, starting with the sticky posts. You'll learn a lot more than by continually bumping a thread and demanding help; people here are not paid support specialist, they are just trying to help out... they don't have time to post the same answers in every post asking for help, there are too many.

Have a bit of patience; a patch should be out soon; not much anyone can do until then if the fixes already announced don't help.

Is it still making the screech noise when it freezes up on you? The reason I ask is that I participated in a thread on another board and the culprit ended up being 81.84 Nvidia drivers and an odd conflict with "multicore" cpu's and multiple displays. Sounds nuts, I know, but if you have more than one monitor hooked up, an HT enabled or multicore cpu and you're getting the screech have a look at this thread...

Oh I know but most of the stuff that those threads are telling people to do Me and the support people from 2k have already tried and nothing has help so I figure it's something more then what the majority of people are experiencing. and I was just hoping that since there are computer geniusous here someone might have some Ideas. But anyway I only bumped it once the first thing was cause someone asked me what kind of Sound Card I had. Then I bumped the thread then the next post I had made a discovery and was hoping maybe that might provide some insight to whats going on.

No I don't have mulitple monitors, and I just updated my drivers to 81.94

Chopperhead, what are your system specs? CPU/speed?; RAM?; graphics card, we know some type of nVidia, but which one?; OS version?; we know you have Audigy 2; MB and Bios? All this is helpful info to give out if you want others to do more than guess when they're trying to be helpful...
