I disagree with most of what you wrote, but I especially disagree with this. Compared to Civ V, Firaxis is releasing patches and expansions more quickly. Indeed, they're releasing content at about the same pace that they did for Civ IV. I don't think that anyone is intentionally holding content away from you just for fun.
Anyway, here's hoping for a patch soon! I'm just about to start another game and I hate getting a mid-game patch.
Fair enough!
I sort of don’t disagree they’re releasing more “stuff” overall, or are doing a lot of patching.
What I meant is that they’ve rolled out less big mechanics (albeit the mechanics they have released are sort of more complex / fuller). Like, they’re sort of releasing less but better stuff, with the overall effect is less big mechanics getting released.
eg I think the World Congress was likely meant to get released with RnF, but maybe held it back to work on it more. As a result, it’s more complex, better developed, but it came out later than it could have.
But. What I’m saying is very subjective. So, yeah, not saying I’m 100% right about this...
I just feel like, overall, Civ VI has a longer development cycle. Like, they’re building a brick house, and not deliberately going slow or dragging it out, but they are placing bricks very carefully to make a very sturdy house (but then it does take longer to finally get the roof on).
Guess we’ll find out in about 8 months when they either do or don’t release a third expansion...
