32 enemies on Tiny map - sick and fun

err...i realize that...its 31 enemy civs plus you right?...or whatever...i just want to max it out...
 
ok...well...whatever the number is...I just need the steps...the "how to" process to increase the number of civs...I cant seem to get it to work...:S...
 
Open the editor, and go to scenario properties. Set it to the highest number there, and save it. Then go to Civ-content, and open that file. That should give you the 31 civs. Don't have the editor handy right now, so not sure on the exact steps.
 
It's 31 civs. The barbarians make "32".
 
Try it as always war. We're doing that on regeant (with 31 foes, that's still pretty significant) as an SG. Started before I saw this thread. 32 civs on a small map (not tiny) with min distance modified appropriately. Almost exactly 21 tiles/civ. :lol:

I've now played 3 games in a row of Regent Always War with the Sumerians on the Tiny with 31 civs mod. 3 Victories. And all games were with Governors on and the workers were automated for a large part of the game. Easy that means.
The first 2 were so really easy because only 2 or 3 civs were near me. That meant room for a 2nd, 3rd and even a 4th city (army) and slow meeting of new civs (keeping up in techs). The last game I started with 7 civs around me. I was able to build an enkidu warrior in 5 turns, thus I could destroy 2 civs before they could build their first defender.
So again I had room to expand (which I think is logical). But meeting so many civs so early was the reason I fell behind tech-wise. I had a hard time fighting off the advanced units (knights) with my Enkidu's and horsemen. I needed many units and the building of a huge army crippled my economy. Also leaders were scarce. I was around 100% tax, 25 gold and -16 gpt at some stage. But when I did get a leader; it was game. Capturing just 1 extra city makes so much difference; you get extra commerce from the tiles in that city and the unit-support cost is helped as well. And an army (when used properly) is undefeatable by the AI.

Always war is not as much fun as a normal game in this concept. That is a shame, since we've now learned the way to win on this map. But not completely.
I deliberately chose the Sumerians for these reasons:
- Early defensive UU which doesn't require resources.
The traits you don't want for AW on this map are:
Seafaring; it is Pangaea. Religious; you'll be changing gov 1 time at max. Expansionistic; there is no room to expand and no huts.
Commercial; you won't have big cities.
That leaves Militaristic, Industrious, Scientific and Agricultural. Militaristic is not so good here as the main benefit of Mil; the army; requires 4 cities, which you won't have.
Industrious isn't very helpful as there aren't many tiles to improve.
Agricultural always helps.
Scientific helps to catch up a bit tech-wise since you can't trade techs.
Luckily Sci/Agr = Sumeria, which has the perfect UU for this; Enkidu warrior.

The game can be made harder in 2 ways; difficulty level and choice of civ. Upping the dif level is stupid; the AI gets free units, walks right in and you've lost in 3900 BC.
So the only way to increase difficulty is the choice of civ. Worst are (debatable) expansionist and Seafaring. That means Portuguese. They have a lousy UU for this game as well.

My next "Tiny with a lot - Always War" will be on regent as the Portuguese.

Anyone cares to try it before I do ?
